The MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center presents "Into the Woods" (MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center presents Into The Woods over two weekends, October 18–20 and October 25–27, 2024. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. Orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. This will be the ninth production for the community theater group and will be led by Director Kathy Connolly with Musical Director Matt Ebersole, Choreographer Samantha Amaral and Assistant Director Victoria Keiser.
The Headless Horseman Rides Again in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow at Mile Square Theatre The beloved tale of Ichabod Crane, the Headless Horseman, and the town of Sleepy Hollow is woven into the fabric of American folklore. A witty adaptation of Washington Irving's timeless ghost story, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," comes to life on stage, October 3-20, 2024, at the Mile Square Theatre in Hoboken, New Jersey. The 80-minute show is full of twists, turns, and tee-hees, all told by one man, Shawn K. Jain, performing courtesy of the Actors' Equity Association. Jain embodies a variety of characters using vocal and physical changes to transform seamlessly from one person to the next.
Literature to Life Performs at Two Free Events Across New York City Public Libraries in October (NEW YORK, NY) -- This month, Literature to Life (LTL) will bring two of its Signature titles to two events that are free and open to the public, hosted in New York City and Queens public libraries. The first event, presented in partnership with the Literary Freedom Project, will take place on Saturday, October 5 at 1:30pm at Bronx Library Center. The second will take place on Saturday, October 19 at 3:30pm at Langston Hughes Library as part of their annual Literary Arts Festival.

Dueling Pianist, Who Performed on "Don't Forget the Lyrics" with Host Wayne Brady, to Play at The Community Chest's Shake Rattle and Roll Fall Celebration (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Shake, Rattle & Roll Dueling Pianos, New York City's longest running all request Rock 'n Roll party, is coming to northern New Jersey to perform in The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County's Fall Celebration on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Dueling pianists, Mark Weisner and Rob Carroll, will present an evening of live piano music, comedy, and cabaret at the Englewood Field Club (341 Engle Street) in Englewood from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Weisner performed for several years on the FOX TV show, Don't Forget the Lyrics, with host Wayne Brady.

New Release Review - "Apartment 7A" Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby is the latest beloved horror movie to get the uncalled-for prequel treatment. The motivation for such ventures is generally down to simple brand recognition, yet the almost non-existent marketing for Apartment 7A makes no mention of its connection to the 1968 film, either because the suits at Paramount want to distance themselves from persona non grata Polanski or they have such a low opinion of director Natalie Erika James's film that they want to avoid damaging their acclaimed IP (the latter would be a first for a Hollywood studio).
