Pleasant Valley Productions presents "The H Word"

originally published: 08/05/2024

(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Pleasant Valley Productions presents a workshop of The H Word by Kerry Jules on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center. This is a play where the audience is placed directly in the center of what is known as the "final seven minutes" of brain activity, prior to death. Where life and death intersect and one is left with nothing but themselves, their experiences and their truth.

The story centers around a deceased man who comes face to face with his life story in the most unusual of ways. As he is guided through his memories, we travel through the human experience. Witnessing the battles and beauty that occur in the overlapping of self.

The production is written and directed by Kerry Jules. The cast includes Donniee Barnes, Laurie Delinois, Winnie Delinois, and Behkari Garrick.

A critical part of the process of workshopping a new work is getting feedback from you, the audience.Come see the show and then join Kerry and the cast for a post-show discussion where you can share your thoughts, becoming a crucial part of the development. You will also be able share your impressions and questions online in a post-show survey.

Tickets are $5 and available at the gate (cash or Venmo). Rain date is August 10th). The Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center is located at 4 Boland Drive in West Orange, New Jersey.

Pleasant Valley Productions was formed in 2012 as an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community theatre company. Based in West Essex County, they observed that their area of New Jersey had no theatre companies that focused on mentoring local youth in the technical and administrative, as well as the artistic aspects, of theatrical production. Keeping that in mind, their goals are to produce quality productions, mentor the development of young people in the technical, administrative, and artistic roles of a theatre and to develop new works and provide a platform for their expression.
