Silverpoint and Graphite by Kenneth Weiner

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Kenneth Weiner's art flourishes where realism meets the abstract and where thoughts cross into emotions. The Ocean County Library Toms River Branch is pleased to present "A Retrospective: Art by Kenneth Weiner" in the Second Floor Gallery throughout the month of August.

“I create my art to evoke feelings,” Kenneth says. “It is my way of provoking thought, inducing feelings, opening a dialogue with others’ souls, even those who will see my work long after I’m gone.”

Kenneth’s graphite, precious metal point, pen and ink, brush and ink and watercolor images reflect his studies of Northern Renaissance, Chinese and Neolithic art, abstraction and nature. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Montclair State University and was mentored by Robert Beverly Hale at the Art Students League of New York.

His inspirations include Matisse, van Gogh, 16th-century Italian and later Belle Epoque artists, Pre-Raphaelites, children’s illustrators including Arthur Rackham, the Wyeths, Steve Hanks and Robert Vickery.

The Lakewood resident’s art affiliations have included the Salmagundi Club, Ocean County Artists Guild, West Essex Art Association, Livingston Arts Association, Art Alliance of Monmouth County and the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury.
