(TRENTON, NJ) -- Mercer County Park hosted the first Trenton Talks Basketball Tournament, with a portion of all proceeds going to benefit Trenton's A Better Way foundation, on July 7, 2024. The tournament brought out over 250 residents from Trenton and surrounding communities. 12 basketball teams competed for top honors. There was also a double-dutch jump rope contest, judged by Skil-Lit Café Owners Robert Wilborn and Dionna Maldonado.
The team sponsored by the Trenton Community Street Team ultimately emerged victorious. Other team sponsors included Mercer County Executive Dan Benson, Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli, Moja Life, Wheels 2 Go, Creative Change Counseling Inc., Empowerment House, Orchid House, NJ Weedman’s Joint, The Hummingbird, and A Prepared Place.
“The Mercer County Parks exist to be used and enjoyed by all of our residents, from every community in our county,” said County Executive Dan Benson. “The Trenton Talks Basketball Tournament was a tremendous success, and we are always eager for more opportunities to bring Trentonians, and especially Trenton’s youth, out to all of our Mercer County Parks.”
