(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Wellmont Theater presents Return to Dust on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 7:30pm. They, along with Tigercub, will open for Chevelle.
Los Angeles based alternative/grunge rock quartet Return to Dust (Matthew Bielawski, Graham Stanush, Sebastian Gonzalez, London Hudson) has already scripted a karmic saga that traverses decades, pays homage to the past, and plants its roots firmly in the future. Listening within their sonic universe is like time-traveling to the halcyon days of the '90s grunge era. Their sound, influenced by heavyweights of the time, reverberates with the echoes of Deftones, Alice In Chains, and the soul of Nirvana — but, their brilliance doesn't stop there. The band draws inspiration from a diverse palette, blending in bits from bands like The Cure, Metallica, and Cage The Elephant, molding them into their own unique musical tapestry.
Return to Dust, recently released a new video for their latest single, "Face Down" taken off their debut self-titled album via Jim Kaufman Productions. Directed by Matt Akana, the "Face Down" video delves deep into the realms of emotion and introspection, its grunge-infused aesthetic adding a raw and gritty layer to the evocative visuals.
"Face Down," a standout track on the band's debut album, serves as a poignant reminder of Return to Dust's sonic evolution. With its explosive instrumentation and poignant lyricism, the track captures the essence of smash hit "Belly Up," while ushering in a matured sound that emphasizes the band's rapid growth and their fearless embrace of musical experimentation. Shedding light on the brand new video, the band shares: "We wanted to convey a sense of the surreal with the Face Down music video that our other videos hadn’t captured yet. So we created a red world and a dark void. Places where you’re not quite alive and not quite dead that shows the duality of beauty and chaos. Comfort and unease. Themes and feelings that permeate throughout the rest of this album."
