The ShowRoom in Asbury Park presents A Summer Music Film Series

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- This July, The ShowRoom invites you to experience a special series of music-oriented films on the last three Thursdays of the month. Starting at 7:30pm on July 11th, 18th, and 25th, these screenings celebrate some of the greatest music performances ever captured on film. Asbury Park, known for its rich rock & roll heritage, provides the perfect setting for these cinematic events, with two films celebrating their 40th anniversaries.

Thursday, July 11th – Jonathan Demme's "Stop Making Sense" - Kicking off the series is Jonathan Demme's "Stop Making Sense," a film that captures the Talking Heads during their 1983 tour. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, this groundbreaking movie is renowned for its dynamic direction and energetic performances, featuring hits like "Psycho Killer" and "Once in a Lifetime."

Thursday, July 18th – Martin Scorsese's "The Last Waltz" On July 18th, they present Martin Scorsese's "The Last Waltz." Documenting The Band's farewell concert on Thanksgiving Day 1976, this film includes memorable guest performances by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell. It’s a heartfelt tribute to an era of music that defined a generation.

Thursday, July 25th – Albert Magnoli's "Purple Rain" - The series concludes on July 25th with Albert Magnoli's "Purple Rain." Starring Prince, this 1984 film, also celebrating its 40th anniversary, blends electrifying live performances with a compelling story of ambition and love. The soundtrack, featuring hits like "When Doves Cry" and "Purple Rain," showcases Prince at his finest.

Asbury Park's vibrant rock & roll culture makes it the ideal setting for this film series. Come to The ShowRoom to enjoy these music films on the big screen. Tickets are available for purchase online for $15 each. All screenings begin at 7:30pm. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- This August, The ShowRoom Cinema invites audiences to celebrate the Garden State on the big screen with The Jersey Shore on Film, a special three-film series presented in collaboration with film historian and author Marci Mazzarotto. Executive Director of the Bread & Roses Film Festival and Associate Professor of Communication at Georgian Court University, Mazzarotto will introduce each screening and share insights into New Jersey's rich cinematic history. Copies of her acclaimed book, The Jersey Shore on Film—the first and only book dedicated entirely to the region's cinematic legacy—will be available for purchase at each event.

45th Bi-Annual New Jersey Film Festival will Take Place September 4th through October 4th

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The 45th Bi-Annual New Jersey Film Festival will be taking place between September 4 - October 4, 2026. As they have been doing the last few years, the festival will be presented as a hybrid with select in-person screenings at Rutgers University and most of the films available virtually via Video on Demand for 24 hours on their show date. The festival also be offering an Audio-Visual Concert featuring the bands Lawns and Hanging Coats as well as two FREE Filmmaking Workshops.
