Westminster Conservatory Noontime Recitals presents music for viola and piano

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will present a recital of music for viola and piano on March 21, 2024 at 12:15pm The performers, Dennis Krasnokutsky, viola, and Larissa Korkina, piano, are members of the teaching faculty of Westminster Conservatory of Music. The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church (61 Nassau Street) in Princeton. It is open to the public free of charge.

The program comprises movements from Bach's Sonata, BWV 1028; Mikhail Glinka's Sonata for Viola and Piano in D MinorArpeggione Sonata, D. 821 by Franz Schubert; and Andante, and Hungarian Rondo, J.79,  op. 35 by Carl Maria von Weber.

Krasnokutsky is an internationally acclaimed soloist and chamber musician. He is the principal violist of the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey and the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, and a member of the award-winning Rowan String Quartet and Samuel Barber String Quartet. Krasnokutsky's list of professional orchestra appearances includes the Harrisburg Symphony, Miami Orchestra, Reno Philharmonic, Baton Rouge Symphony and the Bay-Atlantic Symphony. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with an array of artists, including Hilary Hahn, Bella Hristova, Sara Chang, Jonathan Biss, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Bernadette Peters and more.

Korkina received a Master of Music Degree from the Belarusian State Academy of Music, where she studied with Valerie Minenkov and Grigory Shershevsky, and later joined the teaching faculty. Since moving to Princeton, New Jersey, in 1990, Korkina has enjoyed a successful career as a solo recitalist, chamber musician and coach/accompanist. Her recent engagements include the prestigious Matinee Musical Club at the Academy of Music of Philadelphia, Music Heritage Series at Westminster, The Friends of Music at Taplin Hall and the Longwood Gardens Concert Series. She is a recipient of the Genia Robinor Pedagogy Award and the Distinguished Pedagogy Award from the Cecilian Music Club.

The next event in the Westminster Conservatory at Nassau series will take place on April 18, and will feature Trio Brillante – Katherine McClure, flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; and Esma Pasic-Filipovic, piano.
