(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater will hold auditions for its upcoming DREAM Summerstock VTC: A Musical Theater Intensive. This transformative three week sleepaway program immerses young performers in the world of musical theater, offering a unique blend of training, collaboration, artistic exploration, and traditional outdoor sleepaway camp experiences like campfires, hiking, swimming, and more.
The camp dates are from July 28, 2024 - August 18, 2024.
Auditions will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 4:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday, February 3, 2024 ( from 10:00am-6:00pm at Vanguard Theater Company (180 Bloomfield Ave) in Montclair, New Jersey. (Note: walking up stairs is required.)

DREAM Summerstock VTC is diverse and inclusive, welcoming aspiring performers from all different zip codes and lived experiences. Unlike larger camps accommodating over 200 students, our camp is limited to a maximum of 80 campers, ensuring an intimate and personalized experience for every participant. As a year-round theater in Montclair, NJ, we leverage our resources to deliver Summerstock productions of the same caliber as our professional shows, complete with full lights, sound, sets, and projections. Notably, we offer this exceptional experience at almost half the cost of comparable musical theater sleepaway programs, with flexible payment plans starting as low as $300 a month (excluding scholarship dollars), embodying our commitment to making theater accessible to all.
Camp Offerings: Campers at DREAM Summerstock VTC have a dynamic schedule filled with artistic and outdoor activities. Alongside three fully produced shows, participants have the chance to engage in nature-inspired activities such as rock climbing, zip-lining, boating, lake swimming, hiking, and more. Specialized workshops, including Breaking Down The “Riff,” Stage Combat, Songwriting, Accents & Dialects, Mastering the Mix, and College Audition Prep, cater to diverse interests, ensuring a well-rounded experience.
AUDITION INFORMATION:
* Summer 2024 shows in consideration are Mean Girls, Urinetown, 13 The Musical, and Alice By Heart;
* Prepare 16 - 32 bars in the style of the show you’re most interested in, or in a style that shows off your voice;
* Virtual auditions are strongly encouraged, providing flexibility for participants;
* Auditions are for placement only - all are welcome to attend.
