(SOMERVILLE, NJ) -- The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission invites the public to enjoy the new Frontline Arts "Scrubs Paper Project" exhibit. The artwork is on display from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, on the first and third floors of the County Administration Building at 20 Grove Street in Somerville. The exhibit ends on Monday, January 15, 2024.
The unique art exhibit features 65 pieces of artwork. The art is created on handmade paper that is made from scrubs, lab coats, clothes, and other trace objects donated by healthcare workers and then deconstructed into paper. The paper becomes a platform for healthcare workers to tell their story. This is the first time the exhibit is displaying in-person instead of online.
The exhibit is a collaborative effort between the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission and Frontline Arts, located in Branchburg. Frontline Arts is a non-profit organization that supports local artists and promotes the fine art of printmaking statewide.
Frontline Arts, formerly the Printmaking Council of New Jersey, is a non-profit organization that strives to connect communities through socially engaging arts practices that are rooted in papermaking and printmaking. The idea is to promote inclusion where everyone can engage in a brave space of commonality, connection, and empathy through the arts.
