(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Jersey City Theater Center’s Global Arts Festival is proud to present Wan Dance Studio (Indonesia) performing The Bapilin Tigo Rope on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 7:30pm. The Bapilin Tigo Rope is a dance performance based on ancient Indonesian philosophy.

“JCTC’s mission is to foster unity among diverse communities through the arts, both locally and globally. I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to Wan Dance Studio from Indonesia as they join us at JCTC on October 15th," expressed Olga Levina, Executive Director at JCTC. " Jersey City is one of the most diverse cities in the USA, we take pride in serving our community by providing opportunities to artists and people with various cultural backgrounds to explore, experience, and exchange each other cultures and by doing so, unite.”

The Bapilin Tigo Rope, revered as a symbol of security, strength, togetherness, comfort, and unity, stands prominently in the rich tapestry of the Kampar district in Riau. Rooted deeply in the community's ethos, the ideology of the Bapilin Tigo Rope is considered fundamental, a binding force woven into every aspect of life.

At its core, the Tali Bapilin Tigo represents a harmonious fusion of three pivotal elements: Ninik Mamak, Alim Ulama, and Cerdik Pintar. These components, embodying tradition, religion, and governance, respectively, exert a profound influence over the community. Together, they form a resilient bond that extends its grasp over tradition (Ninik Mamak), religion (Alim Ulama), and government (Cerdik Pintar). This collective strength enables the Bapilin Tigo ideology to permeate and guide crucial decisions within the society.

The concept of "Three Rotation" (Tali Bapilin Tigo) unfolds as a work of performing art, offering a nuanced interpretation of the Bapilin Tigo Rope's significance. This artistic endeavor delves into the multifaceted nature of the rope, revealing facets beyond its conventional role as a community power. In the contemporary landscape, deviations have emerged, challenging the traditional role of the Bapilin Tigo Rope and prompting a reevaluation of its influence.

The narrative of "Three Rotation" poses poignant questions about the current condition and strength of the Bapilin Tigo Rope within the community. It goes beyond the surface, providing a comprehensive interpretation of events intertwined with the existence of the Bapilin Tigo Rope. Elements such as the symbolic presence of Soko, Pisoko, and Limbago come into focus, offering a deeper understanding of the intricate dynamics and challenges faced by this revered symbol.

As the work unfolds, it beckons the community to reflect on the evolving role of the Bapilin Tigo Rope, raising essential inquiries about the resilience and depth of its ideology in the contemporary context. In exploring the events and incidents tied to the Bapilin Tigo Rope, "Three Rotation" invites a collective introspection, urging the community to safeguard the essence of this symbolic rope amidst the currents of change.
