(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will continue with a recital of music for clarinet and piano on Thursday, October 19 at 12:15pm. The performers – Kenneth Ellison, clarinet; Phyllis Lehrer, piano – are members of the teaching faculty of Westminster Conservatory of Music. The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church (61 Nassau Street) in Princeton. It is open to the public free of charge.
The program comprises Five Bagatelles by Gerald Finzi and Dance Preludes by Witold Lutoslawski.
Ellison has performed internationally with many ensembles, including the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Riverside Symphonia, the Greenville Symphony and the American Fine Arts Festival. He is an adjunct professor of clarinet at Kean University and teaches clarinet and saxophone at Westminster Conservatory of Music. Ellison's recorded collaborations include Bread of Life with the Tim Keyes Consort, On Course by Laurie Altman, Pictures at an African Exhibition by Darrel Yokley and more. He holds degrees from Furman University and Arizona State University.
Lehrer is known internationally as a teacher, performer, clinician, author and adjudicator. She has enjoyed an active concert career as a soloist and collaborative artist worldwide. Lehrer, professor emerita of piano at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, continues to serve on the faculty of Westminster Conservatory. Her collaboration of over thirty-five years with duo piano partner Ena Bronstein Barton has produced multiple recordings featuring duets of Mozart, Schubert and Debussy, as well as several two-piano works by Laurie Altman, Mozart, Schumann and Rachmaninoff. Lehrer earned a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music and a master’s in piano from the Juilliard School of Music.
The next Westminster Conservatory at Nassau recital will take place on November 16.
