(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Necessity is the mother of invention for DIY culture especially in the arts in NYC. Altamura Legacy Concerts is excited to bring that spirit to its living room setting in the heart of Princeton on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 4:00pm. The gathering kicks off with pioneer break dancer, Ana "Rokafella" Garcia in a talk and a viewing of excerpts from her film "All the Ladies Say."  John Cage's prepared piano music follows with New York Times featured pianist Adam Tendler. ALC Artistic Director Cristina Altamura hosts with Adam Sliwinski of Sō Percussion. Coffee bar opens at 3:30pm.  Princeton University piano student Otto Trueman will warm up the audience starting at 3:45pm.

Tickets range from $10-$30 and are available for purchase online. Princeton United Methodist Church is located at 7 Vandeventer Avenue ((at the corner of Nassau Street) in Princeton, New Jersey.

4:00pm - Wikipedia says: Ana Garcia (born 1971), better known by her stage name Rokafella, is a breakdancer, dance teacher, poet, musician, and entrepreneur. She has been credited as being a female break dance pioneer and influencing the new generation of B-Girls and B-Boys. She also happens to be the childhood friend of pianist and ALC artistic director, Cristina Altamura. Their first collaboration was a choreography for their elementary school talent show to Nena's 99 Luftballons! In 2008, they reunited at Central Park SummerStage with Rokafella's theatre and dance company Full Circle Productions in a piece consisting of urban dance styles to the music of JS Bach played by Cristina onstage with the dancers. That eventually led to a co-commissionin 2015 by the Kennedy Center and The Victory Theatre on Broadway for a theatre piece called "Out of the Bachx". For this program, Cristina invites Rokafella to discuss her journey as a pioneer B-Girl and show us excerpts from her film "All the Ladies Say". Check out more about her HERE

4:30pm - Pianist, Adam Tendler performs works for prepared and un-prepared piano by John Cage, including his lush In a Landscape and A Valentine Out of Season. Tendler has been closely associated with John Cage's work for over nearly two decades, working closely with the John Cage Trust and Edition Peters, Cage's publisher, and performing the composer's work internationally. His performance will follow a brief dialogue with Sō Percussion's Adam Sliwinski. Read more about Adam Tendler's path breaking career HERE
