(LOVELADIES, NJ) -- Lighthouse International Film Society presents a screening of Patrick and the Whale on Thursday, September 14 at 7:30pm at Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences (120 Long Beach Blvd) in Loveladies, NJ. Filled with breathtaking cinematic wonders, the film opens an intimate portal into the fascinating world of sperm whales.

Leading this voyage of discovery is expert marine videographer Patrick Dykstra, whose relationship with these elusive creatures is largely responsible for today’s growing body of scientific knowledge. In dazzling underwater photography, we see how Dykstra builds trust with his 30,000-pound friends, particularly two that he’s named ‘Dolores' and 'Can Opener.’

But he must balance the fragility of this trust while pushing the boundaries of his research. In order to better protect them—as their populations dwindle worldwide—Dykstra seeks to share as much as he can, as quickly as he can, about these sentient mammals.

Tickets are available for purchase online for $12 or $14 at the door. The screening is free for LIFF Society members.

Patrick and the Whale is being screened with the generous support of Alliance for a Living Ocean; Long Beach Island Foundation for Art and Science; and Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
