(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Join the Acme Screening Room on Saturday, August 19, 2023 for the Lambertville Library Oaxaca Festival Presentation: Valley of the Gods with Oaxacan artists short film screening plus a reception at Dupree Gallery. Follow local artist James Dupree's journey to the Valley of the Gods and meet the Oaxacan Artists he met along the way. The event begins at 5:00pm.

James Dupree spent 9 months in Oaxaca’s Teotitlan del Valle creating an innovative body of work, Valley of the Gods, reflecting the culture, people and ecology of the region. Join us in experiencing through his eyes this transformational journey and the acclaimed artisans he met along the way. Attending the event are Jacobo and Maria Ángeles, world renowned sculpture artists known best for their fantastical creatures ‘Alebrijes’. Along with several large-scale international installations and exhibitions, their workshop served as Pixar's inspiration for the film ‘Coco’. The screened documentary is a copyright of Taconeo Films.

Also joining us is master artist Bulmaro Perez Mendoza and his family who use traditional Oaxacan methods of weaving to create rugs and tapestries designed with mayan patterns and symbols. With techniques steeped in cultural traditions of natural dying, Bulmaro’s artwork is collected and exhibited internationally. A catered reception is included in the ticket price and will take place at the Dupree Gallery in Lambertville.  The full Lambertville Library Oaxacan Festival will take place on Sunday August 20 from 3-7pm at the Lambertville Library.

Tickets $20 for films, Q&A and reception available at www.acmescreeningroom.org
