Pro Arts Jersey City presents Curators Choice Exhibition Curated by Katelyn Halpern

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Pro Arts Jersey City presents Curators Choice, an exhibition xurated by Katelyn Halpern, from May 6-28, 2023 at ART150 Gallery in Jersey City. Pro Arts' annual Curators Choice Exhibition is the result of Meet The Curators one-day portfolio reviews held on April 15th at City Hall. At the end of the day, the participating curators selected the artists they felt presented winning portfolios. These are the artists who will exhibit their work in the annual Curators Choice exhibition.

Katelyn Halpern, Curator: Katelyn Halpern is a multidisciplinary artist from Austin, Texas living in Jersey City, New Jersey. Trained as a dancer and writer and self-taught in other media, she works in installations, performance, multimedia visual art, and the written word on subjects of peace/not peace, intimate relationship, space dust, possibility-freedom-futures, and the experience of moving through the world in a feminine body. Hailed as a compelling conceptual artist, mischief maker, and born searcher, (Jersey City Times), she is the founding artistic director of SMUSH Gallery, an art space dedicated to creative and community work in Jersey City.

Exhibiting Artists include: Alexandra Alvarez, Candy Le Sueur, Edward Fausty, Josué Morales Urbina, Peter Delman, and Winifred McNeill.

There will be an Opening Reception on Thursday, May 11 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm during the Art Crawl.

ART150 Gallery is located at 157A  First Street in Jersey City, New Jersey. The entrance is on the corner of Provost & 1st. The gallery is wheelchair accessible. Hours: Saturdays and Sunday in May, 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Pro Arts Jersey City is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) professional visual arts membership organization dedicated to supporting and promoting artists and their work. ART150 Gallery is made possible by the generous donation of GFP Real Estate. Grounds For Sculpture presents site-specific work exploring the nature of time in "Shantell Martin: Past, Present, Future"

(HAMILTON, NJ) -- Explore the fleeting nature of time through murals, daily meditative practices and newly commissioned sculptures in "Shantell Martin: Past, Present, Future," on view from September 20, 2026-July 23, 2028 at Grounds For Sculpture (GFS). The immersive, site-specific installation will feature new work indoors and sculptures in the park's gardens.
