River Crossing Concerts' Spring Fest features live music and food trucks on June 4th

originally published: 05/02/2023

(RIVER EDGE, NJ) -- River Crossing Concerts presents an all-day outdoors festival on Sunday, June 4 from 12:00pm-5:00pm with live music ranging from American jazz and ragtime to Afro-Latin salsa, from the rhythms of Brazilian Samba and Caribbean Reggae to the sparkling sounds of Irish bagpipes. In addition to the live music, the festival will have food trucks, arts and crafts, and games. The event takes place on the lawn and parking lot of First Congregational Church in River Edge. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

The festival will present a diverse blend of musical styles and genres in one-day outdoors setting at the lawn of the First Congregational Church. Ali Bello & The Sweet Wire Band captivate with a “mix of classical, folk, jazz, roots, and Latin genres are very compelling and enthralling” (Inside World Music) City Winds Trio, whose members have graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the United Nations, brings a multicultural sound fusion from Europe, the US and Asia, performing one of their popular Ragtime Concerts. Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist and songwriter and winner of the Gold Medal in the 2021 American Traditions Competition Nicole Zuraitis “brings a heart as big as her remarkable voice” (Jazz Standards).

Batalá New York transforms the image of women by bringing a loud, fearless, diverse, and resilient community of female drummers in high-energy performances to the stage, promoting Afro-Brazilian culture as the product of Black resistance.  What’s better than one bagpipe? An orchestra of bagpipes, of course! River Edge’s own Tri-County Irish War Pipe  led by Pipe Major Tim Friedhoff will perform American, Irish, and Scottish tunes.

The First Congregational Church is located at 109 Continental Ave (corner of Kinderkamack  Ave) in River Edge, New Jersey.

River Crossing Concerts inspire, uplift and connect communities through the power of music. The series presents compelling programs, rooted in the classical repertoire, performed by local and international artists.  They offer immersive and interactive experiences encouraging social change through diverse and inclusive programming.
