originally published: 04/24/2023

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- The Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University will host its first Print Day in May event from noon to 4:00pm on Saturday, May 6. The event will have six printmaking workshops for people of all ages and live demonstrations by professional artists. Attendees of all ages and abilities can choose to experience and experiment in multiple forms of printmaking through artist-led workshops.

Workshops range from foam printing kids activities with teacher Jen Burke, screen-printing with Stockton Visual Arts Professor Mariana Smith, cyanotypes in the Ducktown Community Garden with Stockton Art Gallery Exhibition Coordinator and Professor Ryann Casey, Gauguin monotypes with Kandice Fields, rubber stamp-making with Kenny Lazan Faulk Jr., and Ajrak block printing on tote bags with the Pakistani Student Association of Stockton University. Wood engraving demonstrations will also be given by printmaker and Professor Michael McGarvey.

There will also be a student and alumni print sale featuring hand-pulled prints by Stockton visual art students. As for refreshments, Enlightened Farm of Egg Harbor City will sell tea that they grow on their farm.

Print Day in May was established in 2007 by Robynn Smith of Monterey Peninsula College in California. Since then, the celebration has been recognized worldwide on the first Saturday of May and is approaching its 16th year. It is a day when art lovers around the globe teach and create various print forms, then share their masterpieces via social media. The Noyes Arts Garage is excited to host this event for the art appreciators of South Jersey and has high expectations for its success.

The event will be free and open to the public, with the choice of going home with an original print. For more information on the specific workshops and event registration, please visit The Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University on Eventbrite.
