McCarter Theatre presents "Blues For An Alabama Sky"
 

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre is delighted to welcome audiences to Pearl Cleage's love letter to friendship and the Harlem Renaissance, Blues For An Alabama Sky, on stage in the Berlind Theatre May 6-28. The play marks the McCarter directorial debut of Associate Artistic Director Nicole A. Watson.

 



Spring Solos Series at Vivid Stage to Close Out with "Harry Clarke" by David Cale
 

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, will close out their three-week Spring Solos Series with Harry Clarke by David Cale. Each of the three solo shows explores the many dimensions that every person contains, and allows each actor to portray a multitude of characters along the way. Harry Clarke takes place April 27-30.

 



West Hudson Arts & Theater Company presents "The Great Gatsby: A Live Radio Play"
 

(WEST HUDSON, NJ) -- The West Hudson Arts & Theater Co (WHATCo) has announced the cast for The Great Gatsby: A Live Radio Play, adapted for the stage by Joe Landry from the Novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald featuring original music by Kevin Connors. Performances begin May 19 at WHATCo’s new venue at 15 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. South, Harrison NJ (the former Holy Cross School.)

 



A Look at Jess Bennett from "Rock of Ages" at Brookdale
 

(LINCROFT, NJ) -- Jess Bennett, a student at Brookdale Community College, is a passionate performer who has been singing, dancing, modeling, and acting since she was three years old and is thrilled to be a part of the musical production Rock of Ages. She is currently the Vice President of the Business Club and a member of the Dance Club, where she enjoys choreographing and dancing with others who share her interests. Jess has recently been inducted into the PTK (Phi Theta Kappa) Honor Society, is a member of the National Success and Leadership Honor Society and will be graduating with an associate degree in business administration at the end of the Fall Semester 2023.

The Sieminski Theater presents David Clark's All About Joel a Billy Joel Tribute
 

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Sieminski Theater presents the upcoming musical tribute, David Clark's All About Joel a Billy Joel Tribute on May 20 at 7:30pm. The tribute show, conceived and presented by Long Island veteran singer/piano player David Clark, promises an evening of stunningly accurate piano playing, lead vocals, and an eerily similar stage look to the Piano Man himself while engaging the audience with wit and humor.

 



RVCC Sets Faculty Concert Featuring Dr. Anna Keiserman on Piano, Dr. Will Berman, Baritone, and Guest Artist Lauren Frey, Soprano
 

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design department will present a faculty concert with Dr. Will Berman (baritone) and Dr. Anna Keiserman (piano), and featuring guest soprano Lauren Frey, Saturday, April 29 at 2:00pm. The event will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College's Branchburg campus.

 



Music at Bunker Hill presents a Multi-Media Concert to Celebrate Earth Day
 

(SEWELL, NJ) -- Music at Bunker Hill presents a multi-media concert combining music and visual art in a celebration of Earth Day on April 23rd. Composer/musician Majel Connery will be joined by the Brothers Balliett with original visual art based on Connery's song cycle Rivers are our Brothers. The art display includes seven juried works by NJ artists, each depicting a song in the cycle.

Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of "Dazed & Confused" with Screening at The ShowRoom on 4/20

New Jersey Secretary of Higher Education Brian K. Bridges Visits Ramapo College of New Jersey Food Pantry
 

(MAHWAH, NJ) -- Ramapo College of New Jersey welcomed New Jersey Secretary of Higher Education Brian K. Bridges, Ph.D., to see the expansion of the WeCare Food Pantry on campus. Earlier this year, thanks to the support of Secretary Bridges, Ramapo was awarded a $51,000 Hunger-Free Campus Grant by the State of New Jersey. The food pantry provides assistance to students who experience food insecurity, which continues to be a growing concern on campuses nationwide. The WeCare program began in 2017 due to the unwavering efforts of student leadership to advocate for state support for students in need of supplemental resources and who face homelessness.

Join these Pulitzer Prize winners for an evening of conversation in honor of the 50th anniversary of their landmark book, All the President's Men, on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 7:30pm.

Knicks Legend John Starks Honored with 2023 Garden of Dreams Hero Award
 

(NEW YORK, NY) -- The Garden of Dreams Foundation awarded Knicks Legend John Starks the 2023 Garden of Dreams Hero Award during the final regular season game at Madison Square Garden. Established in 2009, the annual Hero Award honors organizations or individuals that embody the spirit of the Garden of Dreams Foundation through an active and ongoing dedication to positively impacting the lives of young people facing obstacles, while serving as a driving force and inspiration for others. Starks has not only exemplified but exceeded these values through years of going above and beyond in his caring, gracious and charitable work with the Foundation. Knicks alumni Allan Houston and Garden of Dreams Vice Chairman Gary Fuhrman presented Starks with the award on the court at Madison Square Garden during the Knicks game on Sunday, April 9th.

((GALLOWAY, NJ) -- Shayna Black arrives at her first teaching job at a predominantly white institution in the rural heartland of America, where she is quickly admired for her glowing skin instead of her Ph.D. She is not taken seriously by her students, who she is just a few years older than. A new colleague tries to set her up with the basketball coach — one of the only other Black people on campus.
