ART150 Gallery Presents "Blurred Time"

originally published: 03/25/2023

Works by Michi Muzyka, Lauren Bloomberg, and Ann Giordano

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- ART150 Gallery presents a new exhibit: Blurred Time, curated by Lucy Rovetto. This is an experimental installation featuring Artists of ART150 Jersey City on display weekends from April 7-23, 2023.

Curator’s Statement: “Blurred Time is about letting go of time in our physical space and existence. Using the term 'Installation' allows the work from individual artists to be configured so that the room becomes the artwork. Will the collective of works sharing a space lend their identity and allow the room to become the work of art?  What can be created when our stories and expressions are intertwined. As in the theory of Gestalt, is it possible that an organized whole can be experienced as more than the sum of its parts?

“Vladimir Nabokov discusses a young chronophobic, [Chronophobia:the fear of time moving forward]. “He saw a world that was practically unchanged-the same house, the same people- and then realized that he did not exist there at all and that nobody mourned his absence. He caught a glimpse of the unsettling weirdness we can feel when thinking about a time when we never existed because it reminds us of our own mortality.”

Participating Artists: DB Amorin, Lauren Bloomberg, Guillermo Bublik, Ann Giordano, Susan Evans Grove, Frank Ippolito, Robert Koch, Ceallaigh Lorenz-Talleyrand, Michi Muzyka, Deb Sinha, Brad Terhune, and Josh Urso.

Lucy Rovetto is an artist and part of the Artist Collective at ART150. She holds a BFA from NJCU. She was VIsual Arts Coordinator and Curator at Jersey CIty Theater Center from 2015-2019 and worked as artist assistant to sculptor Anton Smit while living in South Africa from 2008-2013.

There will be an Opening Reception on Friday, April 7 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Click here for more information on the reception.
