(NEWTON, NJ) -- DEAD SET Plays Dead Set featuring Vinnie Amico (moe.), Zach Nugent (Formerly JGB) & Sunshine "Garcia" Becker (Furthur) comes to The Newton Theatre on Saturday, May 13 at 8:00pm. Fans can expect two high energy sets of Grateful Dead music, recreated from Fall 1980 live shows. Some all-star guests were put together for this voyage, expect magic to happen on the stage!
Drummer Amico is a longtime member of hippie jam band, moe.
It usually only takes one show to understand why Nugent is one of the most sought after guitarists in the live music scene. Since touring as de-facto Jerry Garcia expert with Melvin Seals & JGB, he continues to build his dedicated following, putting together and leading multifaceted groups for special runs and festival appearances. Never one to shy away from new and challenging ideas, his performances promise intensity and beauty.
Ever inventive in her drive to deliver songs from the heart that feel authentic to the core, (Garcia) Becker is a multi-talented musician and songwriter who has had much of her success in the Jam band genre of Rock & Roll music. She toured nationally with the Grateful Dead’s spin-off band, Furthur, and later with Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia’s surviving organist) & JGB Band. Sunshine continues to perform with many Bay Area jam bands including Zigaboo Modeliste, String Cheese Incident, Mark Karan, & Everyone Orchestra, singing to sold out crowds wherever people come to dance, celebrate and leave uplifted.
