PHOTOS from "Raisin" at Axelrod PAC (DEAL PARK, NJ) -- To mark the 50th anniversary of its 1973 premiere on Broadway, the Axelrod Performing Arts Center is presenting the musical Raisin now through March 12. The musical is based on Lorraine Hansberry’s classic A Raisin in the Sun, which explores a Black family's journey to a better life as they aspire to move out of the projects in the Southside of Chicago in the 1950s. Raisin is a poignant reflection on the American Dream. Photographer John Posada was there to take photos.
PHOTOS from "Drop Dead!" at WHATCo (WEST HUDSON, NJ) -- The West Hudson Arts & Theater Company (WHATCo) is celebrating their Main Stage 2023 season with the debut of the comedy farse Drop Dead! by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, and with a much-anticipated move to a new performance space in Harrison, NJ. Jazz at Lincoln Center presents "Songs We Love" at Grunin Center (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The first Nationwide Tour for Jazz At Lincoln Center Presents: Songs We Love comes to the Grunin Center on Friday, March 10th at 8:00pm. (Let Freedom Swing Student Show at Ocean County College at 11:00am) The show puts a spotligh on Next-Generation Jazz Stars and Iconic Songs from the 1920s to 1950s.
Jonas Brothers To Play Five Shows at Marquis Theatre Gobal pop icons Jonas Brothers have a five-show, limited engagement at the Marquis Theatre in New York City from March 14 through March 18. On each night of these very special performances, the Jersey natives will focus on one of their albums in order of release, beginning with their 2007 self-titled album Jonas Brothers, in addition to other chart-topping hits from their discography and the first single, “Wings” off their forthcoming project, The Album. The fifth and final show, the Jonas Brothers will treat fans to the first-ever live performance of The Album.
Everclear and Lit to Open Concert Series at 2023 New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning (READINGTON, NJ) -- With an upcoming 40th anniversary celebration full of nostalgia, two of the top bands of the ‘90s will open the concert series at the 2023 New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning. Alternative rockers Everclear and Lit will perform on Friday night, July 28, at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ. A mass hot air balloon ascension of up to 100 hot air balloons launches the celebration. Presented in association with 105.5 WDHA-FM, Lit is scheduled to perform at 7:30pm followed by Everclear.
The Doobie Brothers' 50th Anniversary Tour includes Two Shows at MPAC (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Four-time GRAMMY Award winners and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, The Doobie Brothers, have announced 35 U.S. dates from June through October 2023, an extension of their 50th Anniversary Tour which has had Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, Pat Simmons, and John McFee back on the road together for the first time in over 25 years. The tour comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for two shows Tuesday-Wednesday, July 11-12. Tickets range from $95-$295.
Pianist Sean Chen is Featured in Upcoming Concert by Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra (PLAINSBORO, NJ) -- The Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra presents pianist Sean Chen, bronze medalist of the highly prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Mr. Chen will be featured in a performance of the Beethoven "Emperor" Piano Concerto No. 5. The concert will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Princeton Alliance Church in Plainsboro, New Jersey. The Ocean County Library presents international singing star Maggie Worsdale's tribute, "CRAZY About Patsy Cline" with performances at the Berkeley, Plumsted, Upper Shores, Brick, and Lakewood Branches in March.

Princeton University Art Museum Appoints Jun Nakamura as Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton University Art Museum has announced the appointment of Jun Nakamura as Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings. Nakamura joins the Museum from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where he was the Suzanne Andrée Curatorial Fellow in the Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. He began his appointment at Princeton on February 20.
Joe Satriani Art Exhibition Comes to The Area (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Joe Satriani, the legendary world-renowned guitarist, is planning two additional outings as a touring visual artist with showings coming to two Wentworth Gallery locations in March, 2023 - specifically, Saturday, March 11th at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City and Sunday March 12th at the King of Prussia location. Satriani will be performing a private, intimate concert for Wentworth clients at the end of each show.

Wharton Arts Partners with YMCA for Programs for Seniors (BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ) -- Wharton Arts, New Jersey's largest non-profit performing arts education center, announced that it will partner with the Summit Area YMCA to offer programs for adults aged 55 and over beginning March 20, 2023. The Wharton CAFÉ Choir is a free eight-week choir program that will culminate with a public performance in New Providence on May 9. The program is a continuation of a pre-pandemic rendering made possible through funding from the National Guild for Community Arts Education.
