“We are grateful to Froth on Franklin, which has offered their beautiful coffee house for the benefit,” says Ann E. Wallace | 2023-2024 Poet Laureate of Jersey City, NJ.

The month of March is Women’s History Month, which highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. Poetry of Crisis and Community serves as an event bringing together our community while benefiting the Earthquake Relief Efforts in Turkey and Syria during their time of crisis.

“Poetry is an agile and potent tool for responding to crises and current events. Each of the poets featured in Poetry of Crisis and Community uses her voice to reflect on the world around us, whether local or global, in the moment, so it is fitting that this Women’s History Month event will support relief efforts in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.” Wallace explained.

If you are unable to attend, please consider making a donation to Doctors Without Borders to benefit Turkey & Syria after the Earthquake here

Madhuri Pavamani writes things. Here and there, she reads them aloud. A daughter of the South - South India and the small southern town of Snellville, Georgia - she is the Director of Paul Weiss's ESG Advisory practice and a 2017 resident of the Rhode Island Writers Colony. When she’s not driving The Kid around the state of NJ for his myriad soccer games, she’s trying to find her chill.
