
(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The ShowRoom Cinema will present a one night only screening of the 1942 film Now, Voyager on Tuesday, February 14th at 7:30pm. In the film, a woman suffers a nervous breakdown and an oppressive mother before being freed by the love of a man she meets on a cruise.
Bette Davis was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance as Charlotte Vale, a frumpy spinster who blossoms under therapy and becomes an elegant, independent woman. Co-stars include Paul Henreid, Claude Rains and Gladys Cooper, who received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as Charlotte’s brittle mother. Max Steiner received an Oscar for Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture.
Now, Voyager is number 23 on the American Film Institute’s list of America’s 100 Greatest Love Stories.
