(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents The Secret Garden weekends from February 3-19. The enchanting classic of children’s literature is reimagined in brilliant musical style. The Secret Garden sees Mary, an 11- year-old living in British India, forced from her home by tragedy.

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Avery Sunshine, a phenomenal singer taking no detours in creating melodious music for the masses, if you haven’t seen her live, plan to do on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 7:00pm.

 



Tori Amos to Perform at Count Basie Center for the Arts
 

Trailblazing musician, author and activist Tori Amos has announced a US tour this summer to continue celebration of her highly acclaimed 2021 album, Ocean to Ocean. Following a sold-out World Tour throughout 2022, Tori will once again be performing with long-time collaborator bassist Jon Evans and renowned UK drummer Ash Soan, with special guest support to be announced. She will also be making stops at venues like The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, and a special stop at Wolf Trap in Virginia, where Amos grew up attending shows.  On Sunday, July 2nd, she will perform at Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, NJ.

New Jersey Arts Annual Exhibition - "Mother Nature vs Human Nature: The Inequity of Climate Resilience"
 

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- The theme of this year’s New Jersey Arts Annual Exhibition is “Mother Nature vs Human Nature: The Inequity of Climate Resilience”. 103 artists contributed artwork which will be installed in the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University in Atlantic City and the Noyes Galleries at Kramer Hall in Hammonton at Kramer Hall. It will be on display from February 1 - June 24, 2023.

Literature To Life To Perform At Schools, Theaters, And Prisons Across Country
 

(NEW YORK, NY) -- Since the fall of 2022, Literature to Life (LTL), a performance-based literacy program that presents professionally staged adaptations of American literary classics, has presented over 20 performances in five states, including at the National Book Festival in Washington, D.C. and — thanks to a partnership with the Freedom Reads Foundation — the Otisville Correctional Facility. LTL presents verbatim adaptations of classic and contemporary novels featuring a solo actor.

 



Friends of Cedar View to Tell Story of Silas B. Reeves Via Zoom on Feb. 17th
 

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Mr. Silas B. Reeves was born in 1845 and served in the Union Army during the Civil War as a member of the U.S. Colored Troops, Company B, 41st Regiment. This unit fought with distinction throughout the last months of the Civil War and served along the Mexican border before the unit was disbanded in 1865. Reeves, along with other Black Civil War veterans, and freed Black people, whose eternal resting place are buried at Cedar View Cemetery in Lincroft, NJ. This historic site, which is close to 200 years old, is being preserved by a group of historians and preservationists, the Friends of Cedar View. There are several members of this diverse organization whose relatives are buried at this cemetery.

(NEWARK, NJ) --  Newark Council President LaMonica McIver will introduce a resolution declaring February 1st World Hijab Day in the City of Newark. World Hijab Day, started by Nazma Khan, is a day for women of different cultures, who do not normally wear the hijab, to experience wearing one for the day. Its purpose is to encourage religious tolerance, cultural understanding, and international solidarity.

 



RVCC Holocaust Institute Sets Online Events Focusing on Children's Survival, Resilience During War
 

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College will offer two virtual programs in February, both focusing on the topic of children's survival and resilience during wartime. The programs include Nadja Halilbegovich talking about her experience growin up in Bosnia and Elly Fishman on her book, Refugee High: Coming of Age in America.
