Theatre at RVCC to Present Series for Children, Young Teens

originally published: 01/05/2023

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- As part of its mission to provide affordable entertainment and educational programming for the community, The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will present a three-show series of productions designed specifically for young people.

The School-Time Series will offer the following shows this winter and spring:

Finding North, Friday, February 3 at 10:00am (Grades: 5 and up; 60 minutes) - Finding North brings to life the powerful stories of the strivings, sacrifices, and dreams of John P. Parker, a former enslaved man who dedicated his life to helping enslaved people escape through the Underground Railroad in southern Ohio.

Doktor Kaboom and The Wheel of Science!, Friday, April 14 at 10:00am (Grades: 3-8; 60 minutes) - Doktor Kaboom has built a great big spinning wheel and he’s labeled it with everything from optical illusions to chemical reactions to a homemade hovercraft, and more! He has at least a dozen, fantastic demonstrations ready to share with the audience. Wherever the wheel stops, that’s what’s next to delight, entertainment, and educate audiences.

It’s Okay to Be Different – Stories by Todd Parr, Tuesday, May 2 at 10:00am (Grades: Pre-K-3; 60 minutes) - Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s It’s Okay to Be Different – Stories by Todd Parr features an innovative approach to puppetry manipulation and construction, combined with original music. The production cleverly delivers the important messages of acceptance, understanding, and self-confidence.
