Princeton Makes and Ragged Sky Press Second Sunday Poetry Reading on November 13th

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, will host a Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, November 13 at 4:00pm. The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center.The reading will feature Luray Gross and Bruce Lowry. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry.  

Luray Gross grew up on a Pennsylvania dairy farm. She is the author of four collections of poetry, most recently, Lift (Ragged Sky Press). She was the 2002 Poet Laureate of Bucks County, a resident faculty at the 2006 Frost Place, the recipient of a fellowship in poetry from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and, in 2000, named one of the Council’s Distinguished Teaching Artists.  A storyteller as well as poet, she has worked with thousands of students and teachers over the last twenty-some years.   

Bruce Lowry is a Louisiana native, poet, essayist and journalist. His poetry chapbook, Boyhood, Louisiana (Platform Review), was published in 2019 and his new full-length collection, Salvage, is now available from Ragged Sky Press.  He has been thrice-nominated for the Pushcart Prize and was twice given Honorable Mention for the Allen Ginsberg Prize. He received an MFA in Poetry from Drew University. He currently works as a senior communication associate in the State Legislature in Trenton, and he lives with his partner in Union County, New Jersey. 

Princeton Makes is a cooperative comprised of 34 local artists who work across a range of artistic genres, including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles, and jewelry. Customers will be able to support local artists by shopping for a wide variety of art, including large paintings, prints, custom-made greeting cards, stained glass lamps and window hangings, jewelry in a variety of designs and patterns, and more.  

Ragged Sky is a small, highly selective cooperative press.  We work with our authors closely.  Authors retain copyright and we use our experience and professional resources to support the author’s work through the editing, production, and design process.  Ragged Sky Press has historically focused on mature voices, overlooked poets, and women's perspectives

(WASHINGTON, DC) -- After months of competitions in classrooms and communities nationwide, the 2026 Poetry Out Loud National Finals will take place April 28–29 in Washington, DC. Reciting poetry from an anthology that celebrates historic American voices in recognition of America's 250th anniversary, state and jurisdictional champions will compete for the national champion title and a $20,000 cash prize. Joy Ogunsakin, a senior from Trinity Hall in Tinton Falls, will be representing New Jersey.
