(MADISON, NJ) -- Madison Arts & Culture Alliance presents a reading of Grace Revised by Dominique Cieri on Sunday, October 16, 2022 as part of its Italian Heritage Playwriting Series. The reading takes place at 3:00pm in the The Madison Community Arts Center. The reading is directed by John Pietrowski. A post-reading conversation with the author follows.

The stories of our mothers are overshadowed by our fathers, in a man’s world, where language is not the mother-tongue but rather, the father-tongue.

Grace has always lived in the shadow of her father. On her final day of life, Grace conjures up her mother, Jeanette, and her child-self, young Grace, and the three women take us on an odyssey from Italy to America that spans time, place and the language of her mother-tongue. The backdrop of the play shifts from the grittiness of Morristown, New Jersey, in the early 1900s, to  the magic of Long Branch where Jeanette and Young Grace, each summer for two weeks, can escape from the harshness of a man’s world.

Grace Revised was one of three plays selected for the 2022 Women Playwrights Festival, Speranza Theatre Company.

There is a recommended donation: $10.  Tickets are available for purchase online.  The Madison Community Arts Center is located at 10 Kings Road in Madison, New Jersey.
