
(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The Middletown Arts Center, in collaboration with the Dunbar Repertory Company, presents the professional staged reading of the play, “Three OG’s” by Derrell Lawrence on Sunday, October 16 at 4:00pm. This is the third production of the Sweet Potato Pie Sessions Series and will be directed by Mark Antonio Henderson and read by Joseph G. Taylor.
Take a journey down memory lane on a hot, summer day with Three OG’s as they reminisce about their 60-plus years of friendship, which includes childhood memories, Vietnam War experiences, their fight against racial discrimination, and socio-economic issues as well as the current difficulties of gentrification and separate life journeys. Three OG’s uses both historical contents coupled with cultural and community accountability along with the highs, lows, seriousness, and comical experiences of being an African American man in historic and present-day America. Enjoy the Three OG’s as they engulf you with their invaluable parade of life as they sit outside their South Philadelphia apartment building.

Free parking is available onsite with additional free parking available in the station metered lot on weekday evenings after 6:00pm and on weekends.
Derrell Lawrence is an American playwright that was born and raised in Philadelphia. His plays touch on real-life issues that impact the community and are a source of inspiration and education.
