Centenary Stage to Hold Auditions for Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company will be holding an open-call audition for the upcoming 2022 Holiday Spectacular Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Auditions will be held by appointment only on September 30 from 3:00pm-7:00pm and on October 1 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm.

To schedule an appointment, call the Centenary Stage Company box office at (908) 979-0900. Walk-ins will be seen as time permits. Auditions will be held in the Dance Studio in the Lackland Performing Arts Center of the Centenary University campus at 715 Grand Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ.

If you are unable to attend in-person, digital submissions will also be accepted. Please send resumes, headshots, and reels to [email protected] with the subject line “Attn: Casting”. Performers may prepare a monologue appropriate to the material or read from sides. Sides can be found online at centenarystageco.org and will also be provided the day of auditions. Performances will run December 1-11. 

The magical fairytale, Cinderella, is reborn with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s elegant and charming music. Inspired by the 1997 teleplay starring Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother, this adaptation for the stage includes warmth, hilarity, and romance.

Seeking: 

CINDERELLA (F, 18-25, Soprano) A shy and very sweet orphaned teenage girl who lives with her wicked stepmother and mean stepsisters. She dreams/and is determined to find a better life for herself. 

FAIRY GODMOTHER (F, ageless, Mezzo-Soprano) A beautiful and mysterious character who helps fulfill Cinderella's wish to go to the ball and change her destiny. 

STEPMOTHER (F, 40-50, Mezzo-Soprano) A beautiful, but evil woman who is unkind to Cinderella, yet dotes on her own two miserable offspring. 

GRACE (F, 18-25, Soprano) One of Cinderella's stepsisters. Taller and awkward in her appearance. 

JOY (F, 18-25, Soprano) Cinderella's other stepsister; a bit shorter than Grace, Joy is the sullen one; with a unique laugh. 

PRINCE CHRISTOPHER (M, 18-30, Baritone) A youthful, handsome, but reluctant prince searching for his independence and for his true love. 

LIONEL (M, 30-50, Tenor) The prince's Royal Steward; and his one true ally and friend. A strong, comedic roll. 

QUEEN CONSTANTINA (F, 40-50, Mezzo-Soprano) A perceptive queen who is a loving and invested mother. 

KING MAXIMILIAN (M, 40-60, Baritone) Prince Christopher's father, who gives the young man advice. 

ENSEMBLE  Villagers, Merchants, Maidens, Animal Puppets, Coachmen, Footmen, and Palace Guests.
