(SEWELL, NJ) -- Music at Bunker Hill presents the Escher String Quartet on September 11, 2022 at 3:00pm for a program of masterworks by Haydn, Barber, and Dvořák. Escher Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. A former BBC New Generation Artist and recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the quartet has performed at the BBC Proms at Cadogan Hall and is a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. In its home town of New York, the ensemble serves as season artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

This season sees a mix of old favorites and new discoveries. Harlem Chamber Players String Quartet is joined by Douglas Mapp and Lourin Plant for music by Dvořák and composers in his orbit: Henry Burleigh and Florence Price. Kwan Yi returns with a gorgeous program of works for piano by Haydn, Chopin, and Dutilleux.
Spring opens with Schumann’s Piano Quintet, Mozart’s iconic Piano Quartet in G minor, and the New Jersey premiere of Michelle Ross’ String Quartet. Earth Day will be celebrated with a singer/songwriter vibe with keyboard, bassoon, and bass in a song cycle on ecological responsibility, Rivers are our Brothers; and selections from Passionate Pilgrim, performed by the composers Majel Connery, Brad Balliett, and Doug Balliett. The season ends with the music of Francis Poulenc and NJ composer Amanda Harberg for a festive concert for piano and winds.
In keeping with safety guidelines, proof of vaccine and booster is required. Masks are recommended. A concert video will be available to ticket holders for one week after each concert.
