Voorhees Theatre Company presents "Rent: School Edition"


(VOORHEES, NJ) -- Get ready to be emotionally touched in Voorhees Theatre Company’s rendition of this heart-rending and unforgettable production of Rent: School Edition.  This is a show all about falling in love, finding your voice, being true to yourself, and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, it has become a pop culture phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

(LINDEN, NJ) -- Mystic Vision Players, the resident theatre of Linden, is currently presenting Disney's High School Musical to the Linden stage. The play brings us back to East High School and the Romeo & Juliet story of budding romance in front of the footlights with direction by Howard Whitmore, choreography by LHS dance teacher, Barbara Brady, and music direction by Christynn Morris. Phoenix Productions presents "School of Rock" this weekend


(RED BANK, NJ) — Rock got no reason, rock got no rhyme…You better get me to school on time! Phoenix Productions, the community theatre company of the Count Basie Center for the Arts, presents its summer production of School of Rock - The Musical – this weekend from July 22-24.

The poignant Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning rock musical by Jonathan Larson follows a group of strong and creative individuals who fight hard for their beliefs through their art. B'way's Alex Newell, Mark Evans and Charlotte d’Amboise Serve Up Political Satire in "The Last Supper"


A 1995 indie comedy about death has found new life as a musical. "The Last Supper" tells the story of a group of liberal grad students who decide to play judge, jury, and even executioner with conservative dinner guests. Adapted by Jeremy Desmon and Jeff Thomson, the show explores political extremism, punditry, and morality through bitingly dark humor.

art629 Gallery Presents: "A dogmatic Art Show"


(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- On, Saturday July 30 from 7:00pm-10:00pm, art629 Gallery presents “A dogmatic Art Show!”, featuring a collection of artwork and live paintings by local artist and performer Josh “dogmatic” Matson. The evening will also feature musical performances by Rick Barry of Asbury Park, Jesse Lee of Accidental Seabirds, and Trashboat Dickinson of Puppy Grease. This event is free and open to the public. The work will be on display for one week from July 30-August 6.

Passaic County presents a Larry Doby Talk and Documentary


(PATERSON, NJ) -- In celebration of New Jersey Day (Wednesday, July 27), the County of Passaic, in partnership with Passaic County Community College, will present a talk and documentary film about the life of Baseball Hall of Famer Larry Doby at the college. Doby followed Jackie Robinson, a mere 11 weeks, to become the second African American in Major League Baseball. Admission is free.
