West Windsor Arts Presents "Summer Music & More" at Nassau Park Pavilion

originally published: 07/18/2022

(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- West Windsor Arts will present three uniquely different concerts at the Nassau Park Pavilion in Princeton this summer. Each of the three shows will feature a musical performance by local and regional talent, as well as art activities for all ages. All shows and activities are free.

“Summer is a great time to get outside and enjoy live music with friends and family. This year, we are adding art activities to each show to encourage people of all ages to get in touch with their inner artist. That is why we called it Summer Music and More,” says Aylin Green, Executive Director of West Windsor Arts. All events are scheduled from 5:00pm to 7:30pm.

The series also boasts more genres as well, from Latin jazz, blues, samba, R & B and funk to bluegrass, folk and classical. Modern cellist and music teacher Dan Kassel, who is organizing the event in collaboration with West Windsor Arts, will be opening the first and third shows with his cello loops.

The series will kick off on Saturday, July 30, with Uncle Ho 2.0, featuring bandleader and saxophonist Dave Homan. “Uncle Ho 2.0 has an all-star ensemble including Ween’s Glenn McClelland and Red Baraat’s Chris Eddleton,” says Kassel. “These guys will have folks moving and grooving with their infectious energy.”

Summer Music and More continues on August 13 with the folk stylings of Justin and Bronwyn, a husband and wife duo whose performances feature Swedish, Appalachian, old-time and bluegrass music. Bronwyn Bird specializes in playing a bowed, 16-string Scandinavian instrument called the nyckelharpa. Justin accompanies her on a 6- or 12-string guitar.

“The August 13th concert will be more family-oriented and geared toward children,” explains Green. “We will have more art projects and a flow performer who will get everyone moving with hoops and ribbon wands.”

The series will wrap up on Saturday, August 27, with the smooth sounds of singer-songwriter Sophie Coran. The genre she feels the most at home in is her signature Noir & B style, a blend of R & B, jazz and classical composition, tied together with a ribbon of hyper-sentimentality.

“We look forward to seeing our diverse community come together to enjoy the arts,” adds Kassel. “Nothing brings people together like good music, and with the addition of art activities to each of this summer’s events, there will be plenty of fun for everyone!”

Nassau Park Pavilion is located behind Panera Bread on Rt. 1. Find more information about these free concerts at westwindsorarts.org/events.
