Spring Lake Theatre Company presents "Beauty and the Beast"


(SPRING LAKE, NJ) -- The Spring Lake Theatre Company is opening the 2022-2023 season with one of the most beloved stories of all time: Beauty and the Beast. Twelve performances will take place across July 7-24. When Belle’s father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, her attempt to rescue him leads her to be captured by the Beast, a fearsome monster long ago trapped in his gruesome form by an enchantress. The only way for the Beast to become human once again is if he learns to love and be loved in return.

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Yardley Players will present Oliver! across two weekends (July 8-10, 15-17) at the Kelsey Theatre located on the Mercer County Community College campus in West Windsor.  A perennial favorite, this three-time Tony Award-winning musical appeals to the emotions with its drama, and through its spirited, timeless songs like “As Long as He Needs Me,” “Food, Glorious Food,” “Consider Yourself,” “I'd Do Anything” and “Where is Love.” Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos during a dress rehearsal.
Deadline Approaching for Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop


(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop returns this summer from July 11 through August 14, and the deadline to apply is July 8. This is a 5-week theatre training program for performers ages 8-18 that offers classes in dance, acting, singing, stage combat, technical theatre, and so much more. Each session culminates with a Festival of Shows performed by the students. New applicants must complete an interview with the director of the program, Michael Blevins, before registering.

Lizzie Rose Music presents the Pavilion in the Pines Concert Series for July


(TUCKERTON, NJ) -- Lizzie Rose Music is presenting The Pavilion in the Pines Concert Series again this summer on their outdoor stage located at Atlantic Shore Pines Campground in Tuckerton.  It is located off Exit 58 of the Garden State Parkway.  Shows take place in a covered pavilion with seating provided.  All shows start at 7:30pm.

Blue Curtain presents Two Free Concerts In Princeton This Month

46th Newark Black Film Festival Preview


(NEWARK, NJ) -- The Newark Museum of Art continues its legacy to present films that heighten the historic importance of the Black experience in the United States with the 46th Newark Black Film Festival, which takes place July 12-17.  The festival features twelve films and present six awards—Long Narrative Award, Short Narrative Award, Long Documentary Award, Short Documentary Award, Experimental Award, and Best Film Award.

Surati to perform at July 4th Celebration in Jersey City


(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Surati for Performing Arts, tri state area's premier award winning nonprofit, has been invited to perform at the Freedom and Fireworks Festival on July 4th, now known as New Jersey's July 4th celebrations. The celebrations will be held at Exchange Place, Jersey City on the waterfront. Hosted by Mayor Steven Fulop, The Jersey City Municipal Council, Exchange Place Alliance and The Office of Cultural Affairs, this event is the one largest Independence Day celebrations in the region drawing more than 150,000 visitors and performances by A-list artists. This year Shaquille O’Neal (a.k.a. DJ Diesel), Funk Flex and Flo Rida will be taking the stage where Surati will be performing.

Ellarsie Open Awards Prizes to 31 Artists


(TRENTON, NJ) -- Thirty-one of 134 exhibiting artists received awards during the June 25 Artists Reception for Ellarslie Open 39 at Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie Mansion. The annual juried exhibition showcases this year over 160 artworks by artists from greater Trenton and throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York, as well as Massachusetts, Washington, DC, and Texas. Deborah Oliver oversaw the installation of the diverse artwork that fills gallery and display areas throughout the museum. Most of the artwork is available for purchase.

Noyes Galleries presents "Scrutiny: 40 Paintings" by Joe Lugara


(HAMMONTON, NJ) -- Forty paintings from Joe Lugara’s series “Scrutiny” will be featured in a solo exhibition at the Noyes Galleries at Kramer Hall in Hammonton from July 13 – October 7, 2022. The exhibited works are part of a continuing series. Begun a decade ago, “Scrutiny,” which is still in progress, consists of more than 200 small-scale watercolor paintings on board. The images are abstract but suggest various aspects of nature—terrains, atmospheric conditions, insects, mud slides, plants, animals, bones, and fossils.
