The Theater Project to Present Plays in July, August, and September


(MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Theater Project, a leading incubator for rising talent and a showcase for New Jersey artists, will reopen for live performances in Maplewood, NJ’s Burgdorff Cultural Center on July 7. The award-winning company will offer three plays in three months, including two by NJ playwrights Mary Jane Walsh and Bill Mesce, Jr.
The Premier Theatre Company presents "Something Rotten!"


(RUMSON, NJ) -- The Premier Theatre Company will christen the new Rumson School District Auditorium with the Monmouth County premiere of Something Rotten!  from July 8-10. Something Rotten! tells the story of two brothers who set out to write the world’s first musical in this hilarious mash-up of sixteenth-century Shakespeare and twenty-first-century Broadway. 
Theater with a View Returns to Pottstown with "The Grown-ups"


(POTTSTOWN, PA) -- Theater with a View, Pottstown’s professional outdoor theater company presenting modern works in a beautiful, multi-acre estate on the border of Chester and Montgomery Counties in Pennsylvania, is returning to live performances for the first time since August 2019 with the highly-anticipated regional premiere of one of New York’s most talked about immersive theater experiences.

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre is currently presenting La Cage Aux Folles across a three-weekend run. It opened on June 17th and runs through July 3rd. Photographer John Posada was there one night to take photos.  La Cage Aux Folles is based on the hit French farce that also inspired Hollywood’s The Birdcage, the musical features the humor of Harvey Fierstein and a musical score by Jerry Herman. The show was the winner of six Tony Awards in 1984, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and also a two-time winner for Best Revival of a Musical. Songs include “The Best of Times,” “Song in the Sand” and “I Am What I Am.”

Debra Devi Releases "Jamification Station Vol. 1"


Jamification Station Vol. 1 is a live EP mixed from singer/guitarist Debra Devi’s livestream show, “Jamification Station,” hosted by American Blues Scene. Four tracks capture Devi and her band at full throttle, from catchy "Home Again" to a blistering rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s "Crosstown Traffic," soulful blues-rocker "Get Free," and uplifting Southern-rock tune "The River."  
Final Shows of 2022 Cape May Music Festival


(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- The final shows of the 33rd annual Cape May Music Festival, presented by Cape May MAC (Museums+Arts+Culture), feature the exuberance of jazz performer Paula Johns, the beauty of a Brahms masterpiece, and the excitement of a full orchestral performance by the Bay Atlantic Symphony. The festival series continues with its all-live, in-person, indoor and outdoor concert schedule through Thursday, June 30.

M. Night Shyamalan Returned to South Jersey to Film "Knock at the Cabin"


(BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ) -- M. Night Shyamalan returned to South Jersey to film his upcoming apocalyptic horror film Knock at the Cabin, which just wrapped. The film marks the 15th feature film produced and directed by Shyamalan, with Jarin Blaschke as cinematographer. Produced by Binding Edge Pictures and Universal Pictures, Knock at the Cabin will be released by Universal on February 3, 2023. The principal photography was done in Burlington County.

Newark Mayor Baraka Re-names Washington Park After Harriet Tubman and Launches Arts & Education District at the Park


(NEWARK, NJ) -- On June 20, 2022, Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka hosted a ceremony to re-name Washington Park as Harriet Tubman Square and announce plans to create the Newark Arts and Education District, at the square, to mark Juneteenth. The mission of the new district will be to enhance the many downtown arts and educational institutions, galleries, parks, public art, and restaurants that contribute to the city's cultural legacy and inclusive economic development.
Fifth anniversary ArtYard Hatch returns in person this Saturday in Frenchtown


(FRENCHTOWN, NJ) -- The Hatch returns in person on Saturday, June 25 as ArtYard’s 14-foot steel egg cracks open on the courtyard of its new building at 13 Front Street in Frenchtown. Hatch features live music, performance, storytelling, and a parade of locals dressed as birds who hatch from a giant 14-foot egg to celebrate creative incubation and community.

NJ PBS Premieres a New Documentary that Explores the Roots of Slavery in the Garden State


(NEWARK, NJ) -- NJ PBS, New Jersey’s public television network, announced it will air a two-part documentary entitled The Price of Silence: The Forgotten Story of New Jersey’s Enslaved People. Part one will premiere on Wednesday, June 22 at 8:30pm on NJ PBS (check local listings). Part two will be scheduled in July. The documentary seeks to fill a gap in Garden State history by sharing the little-known legacy of slavery across New Jersey through the testimony of experts who have devoted their careers to studying it.
