Black Box PAC's New Production of Eric Bogosian's "1+1" to headline The Chain Play Festival

Black Box Performing Arts Center's new production of Eric Bogosian's 1+1 will headline The Chain Play Festival this July, as a special NYC Premiere! This riveting three-hander, originally developed at Powerhouse/NYSF in 2008 and then first produced at Black Box PAC in 2021, explores how a modern woman can still rise and fall at the whim of the men in her life.


Music Mountain Theatre presents "La Cage Aux Folles"

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents La Cage Aux Folles for a three-weekend run opening June 17th and playing through July 3. Based on the hit French farce that also inspired Hollywood’s The Birdcage, the musical features the humor of Harvey Fierstein and a musical score by Jerry Herman. The show was the winner of six Tony Awards in 1984, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and also a two-time winner for Best Revival of a Musical. Songs include “The Best of Times,” “Song in the Sand” and “I Am What I Am.” 


State Theatre New Jersey Announces 2022-23 Broadway Season

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The newly renovated State Theatre New Jersey announces its 2022-23 Broadway Season, featuring six fantastic shows. The 2022-23 Season will feature Tony® Award-winning hits, Broadway fan favorites, and some State Theatre debuts. Season tickets for the 2022-23 Broadway Series are now on sale. The series kicks off with Tony® Award-winning musical, Tootsie on November 4-6. The other three shows in the series include the Lincoln Center Production of the classic musical, My Fair Lady on January 27-29; the hilarious and sassy musical comedy, Legally Blonde on April 28-30, which makes its State Theatre debut; and a mesmerizing new production of the iconic musical, Jesus Christ Superstar on June 9-11. 


Cape May Stage and East Lynne Theater Company Host Staged Reading of "Indecent"

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- On Tuesday, June 21 at 7:00pm, Cape May Stage, in partnership with East Lynne Theater, will host a staged reading of Indecent, a 2015 play by Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Paula Vogel. The reading will be held at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, located at 405 Lafayette Street in Cape May, NJ. This event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door, with part of the proceeds going to Gay Men’s Health Crisis, a healthcare non-profit.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats come to Stone Pony Summer Stage on July 1st

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats come to the Stone Pony Summer Stage on July 1st at 6:30pm. The band is touring is in support of their third studio album, The Future, which was released on Stax Records.


Hawthorne Heights Announces Final Lineups for Festival Dates

(OHIO) -- Platinum selling emo legends, Hawthorne Heights, have announced the final lineup for the Ohio date of their upcoming IS FOR LOVERS FESTIVAL, a multi-city experience set to make three stops in summer 2022 – Wichita, KS (August 27), Denver, CO (August 28) and Cincinnati, OH (September 10) – which features lineups carefully curated by the band themselves. Newly announced acts for the final date include: New Found Glory, Motion City Soundtrack, The Amity Affliction, Silverstein, Real Friends, Holding Absence, Kississippi, Caracara, LURK, Leggy, Tweens, Vacation, The Raging Nathans, and Winona Fighter.


Soul Legends The O'Jays and Gladys Knight Come to the Hulu Theater

(NEW YORK, NY) -- SJ Presents brings  R&B legends The O’Jays to New York City for one last tour, Last Stop On The Love Train with special guest, the empress of soul Gladys Knight, to the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. The O’Jays and Gladys Knight will perform their timeless hits on Friday, August 12 at 7:00pm.


NJPAC to Present 7th Annual Geri Allen Jazz Camp Virtually This Summer

(NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), the state’s anchor cultural institution, will present its seventh annual Geri Allen Jazz Camp completely virtually this summer. An initiative to support women in jazz, this world-renowned program is hailed for helping refine technique, grow confidence and build community among performers who identify as female or non-binary.


2022 "Summer Stars" Classical Music Series in Ocean Grove

(OCEAN GROVE, NJ) -- The "Summer Stars" classical music series presented weekly by The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA) kicks off Thursday July 7, 2022 at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ.  Showtimes are 7:30pm. NJ’s own Imperial Brass will perform a program entitled “Americans We,” featuring patriotic tunes, Broadway hits and Tin Pan Alley classics by American composers.


Knauer Performing Arts Center presents Live at The Fillmore

(WEST CHESTER, PA) -- Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center welcomes the world’s most popular Allman Brothers Tribute Band and takes audiences back to the 70s. Live at The Fillmore, named for New York’s legendary Fillmore East Auditorium, takes the stage for an evening of classic rock songs like “Midnight Rider” and “Whipping Post” and  is one of the most well known tributes to the music of the Allman Brothers Band. This popular act is set to perform Saturday, June 25 at 7:30pm.


Ocean City Music Pier presents John Lodge from The Moody Blues

(OCEAN CITY, NJ) -- John Lodge - legendary bass player, songwriter and vocalist for the iconic rock band, The Moody Blues is to bring his electrifying ‘Performs Classic Moody Blues’ show to the Ocean City Music Pier on July 25 as part of their Summer Concert Series. 


NJ Festival Orchestra to Present Outdoor Summer Celebration Concert on July 30th

(WESTFIELD, NJ) -- New Jersey Festival Orchestra, under the baton of maestro David Wroe, presents “An American AND Paris”, a sizzling summer celebration under the stars as Gershwin’s American in Paris meets masterworks by Debussy, Saint Saens, Vaughn Williams and more in a program of international favorites. Set in the splendor of the gardens of one of Westfield’s finest residences, this is an outdoor festivity for the entire family.  The concert takes place on Saturday, July 30th at 8:00pm.

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) presents a wide range of ticketed and free events in July, featuring a great lineup of summer concerts including Lyle Lovett and Chris Isaak, as well as the return of MPAC’s free Arts in the Community events.


Beach Rats (Ft. members of Bouncing Souls, Bad Religion, and Lifetime) to Release Debut Album

Beach Rats is comprised of vocalist Ari Katz from Lifetime, guitarist Pete Steinkopf & bassist Bryan Keinlen from Bouncing Souls, guitarist Brian Baker from Bad Religion & Minor Threat, and Danny Windas from Let It Burn on drums.  The band came to be as each member found themselves settled in the beach community of Asbury Park. After releasing an EP in 2018 and performing a slew of high-energy shows, the global pandemic gave the band a reason to get back to recording. Their debut album Rat Beat, will be released on July 29th via Epitaph Records.


Renault Winery Holds Country Music Weekend for July 4th Weekend

(EGG HARBOR CITY, NJ) -- Celebrate America’s Birthday at Renault’s Country Music Weekend.  Live Country music will be featured throughout the property on July 2-3 and will set the tone for this festive summer weekend. The lineup includes performers from the local area and Nashville.  Bring out the cowboy hats and get ready!


A Tribute To David Kosciolek

There are a handful of people who have made a mark in the local music scene and David Kosciolek was one of them. He opened Indigo Coffeehouse in 2003 and it quickly became host to not only live music, but a music scene literally created by the venue itself. Nearly two decades later, it’s amazing how many musicians and music fans still recall those days fondly.  At the beginning of June, that community was shocked to learn that David had died from a heart attack on May 16th.  Many got together to play an "Indigo Reunion" after the coffeehouse closed and several pay tribute to him in this article.

"Julia Scotti: Funny That Way" Screening & Live Comedy Event on June 25th

(WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The critically-acclaimed documentary Julia Scotti: Funny That Way about New Jersey comedian Julia Scotti will be screened at Township Theatre on Saturday, June 25 at 9:00pm followed by a Q&A with Julia and the film's director Susan Sandler plus a stand-up set by Julia.  A portion of the evening's proceeds goes to the Bergen County LGBTQ Alliance.

State Theatre presents Free Summer Movie Series

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The newly renovated State Theatre New Jersey has announced the return of the Free Summer Movies Series. Movies featured in this year’s series include Raya and the Last Dragon on July 19, Luca on July 26, Space Jam: A New Legacy on August 2, Encanto on August 9, and In the Heights on August 16. Showings for Raya and the Last Dragon, Luca, Space Jam, and Encanto will be at 10:30am and 7:00pm. The movie In the Heights will have a single showing at 7:00pm. All movie screenings will include Spanish subtitles.

Newark Arts Festival Announces Call for Artists

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Newark Arts Festival (“NAF”) will celebrate “Artful Healing,” this Fall in New Jersey’s largest city. NAF will showcase Newark’s dynamic and diverse arts and culture sector from Thursday, October 6 through Sunday, October 9, 2022. 


Mercer County College Professor of Fine Arts, Lucas Kelly, Inaugural Artist in Residence at Penn Center for Neuroaesthetics Focuses on Memory to Create Art

(ALLENTOWN, NJ) -- Lucas Kelly, professor of Fine Arts at Mercer County Community College,is viewed by his students and peers first and foremost as an artist and sculptor. And, rightly so. Kelly was named inaugural Artist in Residence at the Penn Center for Neuroaesthetics in 2019, a position that led to guest lecture opportunities at the Perelman School of Medicine and the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. He has presented his work at the annual conference for the Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity and at the International Association for Empirical Aesthetics. What’s more, his art has been sold and displayed internationally, and his works have been the subject of multiple solo and group exhibitions — all while being a professor at MCCC for fifteen years.


New Brunswick 2022 Juneteenth Commemoration & Celebration Week

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- From June 15-19, 2022, the City of New Brunswick, NJ will celebrate the 157th Anniversary of Juneteenth—a day that commemorates the end of slavery throughout the United States. The Juneteenth Planning Coalition brings together a wide variety of community groups for an exciting series of events to make this year's Juneteenth celebration one of the most outstanding and impactful activities of 2022. Juneteenth achieved federal recognition on the 17th of June 2021, when President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, establishing the 19th of June as a federal holiday to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.

Northern NJ Community Foundation Announces Call for Artists for Summer Busking Street Performance Program

(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's ArtsBergen initiative announces an open call for artists to apply to the Sack Business Alliance’s Summer Busking Program in the City of Hackensack, New Jersey.  The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF) is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Hackensack, New Jersey.  The NNJCF's work focuses primarily on the arts, civic engagement, education, the environment, philanthropy, and public health.

Two River Theater Announces Under 30 Party and Pride Celebration with Local Drag Queens

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Summer is heating up at Two River Theater! The popular series “Inside Two River” is back with two exciting events this month, supplementing the theater’s onstage offerings with opportunities for the community to connect, celebrate, and come together.
