Week 3 and Week 4 of Jersey City Theater Center’s 6th Annual New Play Festival To Now Take Place Online


(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- The Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) staff have transferred the remaining programs scheduled for its 2022 New Play Festival to an online format. Due to COVID-19 affecting some team members, productions taking place during Week 3 (Thursday, May 19, 2022) and Week 4 (Thursday, May 26, 2022) can now be accessed via Zoom at www.jctcenter.org. 
Centenary Stage Company's Young Performers Workshop presents Spring Festival of Shows


(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop will present their Spring Festival of Shows from May 27 through June 5. This season will feature performances of The Robber Bridegroom and Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? Performances will take place in Centenary Stage Company’s Little Theatre located at 400 Jefferson Street, Hackettstown, NJ on the campus of Centenary University.
Crossroads Theatre presents "Freedom Rider" and "Sugarbelly and Other Tales My Father Told Me" In June


(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The Spring Festival is returning to Crossroads Theatre with two great productions and free community events for all. The community-inspired experience offers world-class artists and amazing performances of theatre relevant to what is going on in our world today. This year’s festival will be held at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) and run from June 15 through June 26, 2022.

Makin Waves with Asbury Park African-American Music Project: Preserving History, Celebrating Community, Cementing Future


Around Memorial Day Weekend 1970 when I was 5 years old, my grandmother won me yet another prize at a wheel of chance on the Asbury Park Boardwalk: a copy of The Beatles’ “Abbey Road,” my first big-boy LP. A few weeks later, civil unrest broke out throughout the city, and I didn’t step foot onto the AP boardwalk for a decade!

Lotus performed two nights (May 13-14) at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, PA and photographer Chris Paul was on hand to grab some photos. The band, which has performed at festivals like Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Ultra, and Rothbury, has steadily built a devote fan base through steady touring.  They've also crafted a unique musical style outside of simple genre limitations. Equal parts instrumental post-rock and electronic dance, the band’s distinguishing feature is the ability to maintain a decidedly unique musical voice and remain current while bucking passing trends. 
Michael Arnone's Crawfish Fest Returns June 3-5


(AUGUSTA, NJ) -- After two years off due to the pandemic, Michael Arnone’s Crawfish Fest returns to scenic western New Jersey for three days of music, food and camping June 3-5.  Samantha Fish and Tab Benoit, each a renowned guitarist-vocalist, headline over 20 New Orleans and Louisiana acts that will be performing on three stages from that Friday through Sunday at the spacious Sussex County Fairgrounds.

Harmonica Sunbeam to Host June 6 Pride Drag Show at Vanguard Theater


(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Harmonica Sunbeam, who has been delighting audiences at nightclubs, cabarets, and fundraising events throughout the United States and abroad for over 27 years, will host Montclair’s first ever Pride Drag & Variety Show, at Vanguard Theater, 180 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, on June 6, 2022 at 7:30pm.  Vanguard Theater is presenting the event with Out Montclair, as part of a week of Pride events.

New Jersey Ballet named Resident Ballet Company at MPAC


(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- The Mayo Performing Arts Center and New Jersey Ballet have announced an expanded partnership where the Ballet will be named the theater’s resident ballet company. RVCC Students Present Projects at the American Society for Engineering Education Conference


(NEWARK, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College Engineering students Luke Ingenito and Henry Freligh recently presented their “Rotating Head Support” and “Weight Room Energy Absorber” engineering projects on behalf of their teammates at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Mid-Atlantic Conference. The conference was held April 22-23 at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.

(MAHWAH, NJ) -- Ramapo College of New Jersey, in partnership with the County of Bergen and a number of county and community-based organizations, will host a Spring Domestic Violence Awareness Symposium on May 24 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Moderated and organized by New Milford Councilman Matthew S. Seymour, the symposium will take place in the Trustees Pavilion on the College’s campus at 505 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, NJ.
State Theatre Celebrated 100th Anniversary at Historic Suydam Farms


(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- On May 7, 2022, State Theatre New Jersey hosted Fête at the Farm, a Benefit Gala event to celebrate State Theatre New Jersey’s Centennial Anniversary. The State Theatre Benefit Gala—which was the theater’s first Gala in three years—took place at the historic Suydam Farms in Somerset, NJ. Proceeds from the State Theatre New Jersey Gala help provide education and community engagement programs for children, families, and underserved residents and support the continued excellence of its world-class mainstage performances.

NJ PBS Announces Two New "Treasures of New Jersey" Episodes To Air In May and June


(NEWARK, NJ) -- NJ PBS, New Jersey’s public television network, announced two new upcoming episodes of its documentary series, Treasures of New Jersey, featuring the Peter Mott House in Lawnside and the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge in Morris County. The series pays homage to some of the Garden State’s most iconic places, from historic landmarks and cultural centers to popular destinations.
