(MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre is presenting Into the Woods now through Sunday, May 22. It is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales set in a musical format. This Tony Award-winning musical follows the classic tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel and two princes - all tied together by the baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and the witch who has put a curse on them. Into The Woods has a book by James Lapine with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
Centenary Stage Company's Young Performers Workshop Presents Spring Festival of Shows


(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s Young Performers Workshop will present their Spring Festival of Shows from May 27 through June 5. This season will feature performances of The Robber Bridegroom and Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? Performances will take place in Centenary Stage Company’s Little Theatre located at 400 Jefferson Street, Hackettstown, NJ on the campus of Centenary University. The Spring 2022 Festival of shows will feature performances of The Robber Bridegroom and Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? 
Middletown Arts Center to Hold Auditions for "The Marvelous Wonderettes" on Sunday


(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The MAC PLAYERS at the Middletown Arts Center will hold auditions for The Marvelous Wonderettes, written and created by Roger Bean, on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 1:00pm-5:00pm. This smash Off-Broadway hit and 50’s era jukebox comedy is the second in the MAC’s adult community theater company’s 2022–23 schedule with production dates of July 8–9, 2022. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 8:00pm-10:00pm.
1812 Productions Announces 2022-23 Season


(PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- 1812 Productions, Philadelphia’s all comedy theatre company, has announced their 2022-2023 season of laughs coming to Plays & Players Theatre in Center City, Philadelphia.  Of note, the company will stage the professional regional premiere of the international hit sensation The Play That Goes Wrong, coming in 2023, along with new stagings of two of 1812’s popular hits, This Is the Week That Is and Broads.
Phoenix Productions to Hold Auditions for "School of Rock - The Musical"


​​​​​​​(RED BANK, NJ) -- Phoenix Productions, the community theatre company of the Count Basie Center for the Arts, has announced auditions for its summer production of School Of Rock – The Musical, on May 18-19 and May 21. The play tells the story of Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, Dewey turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can Dewey get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s leadership finding out?  With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this musical features 14 new songs as well as songs from the movie.

New York Stage and Film Announces 2022 Summer Season


(NEW YORK, NY) -- New York Stage and Film, considered “one of the preeminent incubators for theater in the country,” returns July 9-August 7 for five weeks of in-person programming in Poughkeepsie for their 2022 Summer Season.  For 38 years, NYSAF has operated as a vital incubator for artists and their work, a catalyst for stories that continue across the country and around the world.  All tickets are $25 and go on sale June 1.

Orange Loop Rock Festival To Take Place June 10-12 In Atlantic City


(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- LincStar Events is amped to present the lineup for the Orange Loop Rock Festival taking place June 10-12 at the Showboat Festival Grounds outside the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The weekend-long celebration of rock music and hair metal will feature iconic acts such as Stone Temple Pilots, Chevelle, Puddle of Mudd, Hoobastank, Hinder, John 5 and the Creatures, Stephen Pearcy, Great White, Doro, and more.
The Veer Union to Perform at Debonair Music Hall on Wednesday


(TEANECK, NJ) -- The Veer Union has released their heavy yet melodic new album Manifestations as they crank up the tour bus and head out on the Rock Shop Records Spring Tour with label mates Heartsick and Late Night Savior. (STROUDSBURG, PA) --  American singer-songwriter and musician Jenny Lewis brings her tour to the Sherman Theater on Main Street in Stroudsburg on September 20 at 8:00pm.
Scorpions Announce North American Tour


(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Scorpions, one of the most iconic and influential hard rock bands of all time will return to North America on the Rock Believer World Tour with special guests Whitesnake on their Farewell tour. Fresh off of their sold-out Sin City Nights Las Vegas residency, Scorpions will kick off a two month-long Live Nation produced run of dates beginning in August, including the Borgate Casino in Atlantic City on September 5th and the UBS Arena at Belmont Park on September 7.

Music Mountain Theatre presents a comedy night with Aidan Park & friends


(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents a standup comedy night with Aidan Park & friends on May 15 at 7:00pm.  Joining him on “Sunday Fun Sunday” as the host is Bucks County comedian and entertainer, Dwayne Dunlevy. Inaugural Princeton Makes Chalk Festival To Take Place On Saturday


(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Inaugural Princeton Makes Chalk Festival will take place on Saturday, May 14 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm outside the Princeton Makes store at the Princeton Shopping Center.  The Chalk Festival will feature local Middle and High School students making large chalk drawings in the courtyard.  These drawings will be either reproductions or original art of the students.  There will also be a chalk area specifically for younger children who want to create their own works.

Ocean County Library June Virtual Programs To Raise Awareness of Brain Health and Alzheimer’s


(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library and the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter mark Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month during June, with four awareness-raising virtual programs. The online discussions, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, will focus on research and treatment, brain health, and matters of law, finances, and medicine for caregivers to consider. Question-and-answer sessions will follow each.

"The Creole Rebellion" by Bruce Chadwick Chronicles the Most Successful Slave Revolt in the Pages of American History


(ALBUQUERQUE, NM) -- The Creole Rebellion tells the suspenseful story of a successful mutiny on board the slave ship Creole. En route for a New Orleans slave-auction block in November 1841, nineteen captives mutinied, killing one man and injuring several others. After taking control of the vessel, mutineer Madison Washington forced the crewmen to sail to the Bahamas. Despite much local hysteria upon their arrival, all of the 135 slaves aboard the ship won their freedom there.
