
(FRANKLIN, NJ) -- Franklin Theatre Works is holding auditions for a special production of Oliver, which will serve as a fundraiser for the child refugees of Ukraine. The show will take place June 25-26 in the Hunterdon Central Regional High School Auditorium in Flemington. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to Save The Children charity designated for the orphans and children suffering from the war.
Oliver! is a coming-of-age stage musical based on the 1848 novel, Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens. The musical features book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart.
There are a few feature roles still open such as Widow Corney, Noah Claypool, Fagin and Brownlow. Ensemble members are also invited and they need tech, musicians and stage crew. A reimbursement stipend is offered to those who cannot volunteer.
Auditions are scheduled individually at this point, rehearsal schedule is flexible. They need your help to make it a success. Click here for the signup page.
Bring a photo resume if you have one, or a list of previous training and work experience. You will be asked to present a short monologue. Sing a song, you must bring your music if you desire accompaniment, or you may sing acapella. You may be asked to read from a script opposite another actor. Children under 10 can sing Happy Birthday, no experience necessary.
Ticket sales will be available soon, but if you can’t attend the show consider making a donation now. From April 18 to June 30, 2022, all donations will go to help the Ukrainian Children.
