(ASBURY PARK, NJ) --  Newly formed Asbury Park Theater Company (APTCo), in association with Remember Jones Productions, announce auditions for Green Day’s American Idiot, the show that will kick off this professional theater company’s inaugural season on July 1, 2022, at the Kingsley Theater in the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park, NJ.

Please submit a video of a song along with a picture and resume as soon as possible but no later than Thursday, May 5 at 4:00pm. It is ok to sing a selection from the show, but not mandatory. Attach a picture and resume to an email that includes the subject line: "American Idiot Audition Submission,  (your first and last name)"

Send the email to [email protected] and in the body of the email list all of the roles you are interested in as well as a link to your video (using a platform of your choice such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc). Please send a link that will take us right to your video (MP4) without having to be granted access or having to sign in to these platforms. These will be large files so double check your email has been sent and didn't bounce back to you.

APTCo seeks actors, singers, and dancers of all types from approximately 17 years old to 40 years old. If you play guitar, violin, viola or cello, that is a plus.  All cast members will either be paid or, for those who are between the ages of 17 and 25, will be a part of APTCo’s new paid Apprentice Program. Stipends range between $300.00 to $750.00. The two-time Tony Award-winning hit musical Green Day's American Idiot, based on the Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum album, boldly takes the American musical where it's never gone before. This high-octane show includes every song from Green Day's album, American Idiot, as well as several songs from its follow-up release, 21st Century Breakdown.

Johnny, Tunny, and Will struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world. When the three disgruntled men flee the constraints of their hometown for the thrills of city life, their paths are quickly estranged when Tunny enters the armed forces, Will is called back home to attend to familial responsibilities, and Johnny's attention becomes divided by a seductive love interest and a hazardous new friendship. An energy-fueled rock opera, American Idiot, features little dialogue and instead relies on the lyrics from Green Day's groundbreaking album to execute the storyline.  American Idiot is a high-concept show with strong social messages.
