New York Classical Theatre Announces "New Visions" - A developmental reading series of new plays based on classics


(NEW YORK, NY) -- New York Classical Theatre is producing New Visions, a developmental program of original plays by inspired by “classics.” Readings are free and open to the public. 
NJCU Center for the Arts presents "The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao"


(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- New Jersey City University Center for the Arts presents "The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao" on Tuesday, April 26 at 10:00am. This thrilling adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel chronicles the life of Oscar, an overweight science-fiction enthusiast who dreams of becoming the Dominican J. R. R. Tolkien. Growing up in Paterson, he obsesses over fantasy novels, falling in love, and the curse that has plagued his family for generations. Despite the endless taunting from friends, family, and foes, Oscar remains true to himself, as the family curse declares its power and the violence of Oscar's family history collides with his present.

Philly's Five Hundred Bucks to Release Debut Album "$500"


Philly area punks Five Hundred Bucks will release their debut full-length titled '$500' on April 29 .Featuring members of The Holy Mess, The Bella Vista Social Club and Captain, We're Sinking, Five Hundred Bucks' debut is the follow up to their well-received 2020 singles "Shit Shape Heart" and "Spinal."
RVCC MOZAIKA Concert to Feature Trio Entartete


(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Mozaika Chamber Concerts at Raritan Valley Community College will continue May 10 at 7:00pm, with a performance by the Trio Entartete. The event, which is being presented by RVCC’s Arts & Design department, will be held in the Nash Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus. The concert also will be streamed lived on Facebook.
Frantic City music festival to Debut in Atlantic City in September


(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Frantic City, a new music festival,  will debut on September 24 at the Orange Loop Amphitheater in downtown Atlantic City, steps away from the boardwalk. The festival is presented by OLA, HoldFast Records and Todd Abramson. The line up includes Car Seat Headrest, Yo La Tengo, Snail Mail, Murder City Devils, Shannon and the Clams, Superchunk, The Raveonettes, Rocket from the Crypt, Samiam, Titus Andronicus, Protomartyr and Control Top, with the proceedings hosted by Fred Armisen. 
The Indie Collaborative presents an Earth Day Celebration at Carnegie Hall


(NEW YORK, NY) -- A Ukrainian-born classical pianist and members of two different musical families are among the talented musicians taking part in the Indie Collaborative’s Earth Day Performance on April 25 at Carnegie Hall. Sophia Agranovich, who Fanfare Magazine says, is "a bold, daring pianist in the tradition of the Golden Age Romantics" is a celebrated member of this cast that includes the Ewing, NJ-based Grammy-nominated wife and husband team Amy and Alex Otey, and Newark-based brother rockers-- Ricky Jr. and LilNicky Presaud.  Alex is also the music director for this event.  Also on the bill is Princeton, NJ—based/Ireland-born “AmericCelticCana” singer/songwriter Helen O’Shea. The show starts at 8:00pm.

Production Assistant Bootcamp to Be Held at Mercer County Community College


(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- The NJ Motion Picture and Television Commission invites New Jersey residents interested in pursuing a career in film and television production to apply for the upcoming Production Assistant Bootcamp scheduled for April 23 and 24. The bootcamp will be held at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor.

Arts Ed NJ Names Wendy Liscow as Executive Director


(WARREN, NJ) -- Arts Ed NJ, the statewide voice for arts education, announced on April 12, that it has named Wendy Liscow its new Executive Director, effective July 1. She assumes the position held by Arts Ed NJ co-founder and former board chair Robert Morrison, who announced this past January that he would be stepping down effective June 30, 2022, following nearly two decades at the helm.

Rutgers University Press releases "New Jersey Fan Club: Artists and Writers Celebrate the Garden State"


New Jersey Fan Club: Artists and Writers Celebrate the Garden State, edited by Kerri Sullivan, will be published on June 17, 2022 from Rutgers University Press. It is an eclectic anthology featuring personal essays, interviews, photographs, and comics from a diverse group of writers and artists. An exploration of how the same locale can shape people in different ways, it will inspire readers to look at the Garden State with fresh eyes.
