Little Hag To Have CD Release Show at Berlin Under A | NEW YORK, NY

(NEW YORK, NY) -- New Jersey’s self-proclaimed bitch rockers, Little Hag, have an album release show on Tuesday, March 22nd at Berlin Under A in New York City. Spring is in the air and Little Hags’ new album, Leash, is finally getting a proper send-off. Little Hag will be joined by Joy Cleaner, Foley and Ma Ma Ma.

Tickets are $11 and available for purchase online. Berlin Under A is located at 25 Ave. A New York, NY.

Little Hag has also shared the music video for the title track, “Leash.” Directed by Dana Yurcisin, the clip features Little Hag’s Avery Mandeville working on a very long leash.

Little Hag released their sophomore album, Leash, in September 2021 via Bar/None Records. The record calls out familiar themes of abusive men, stalking social media, and reckless driving. Something is holding a defeated and nostalgic Mandeville hostage, tethered to her misanthropic perspective. But she’s not wrong in her grievances; men are disgusting, women are beautiful, fear is paralyzing and death is imminent. Time to face it.

Mandeville and producer Erik Kase Romero (The Front Bottoms, Deal Casino) began testing the waters of this record together in 2018 with “My Last Name,” a stripped down and sentimental ode to the memories that derail us. Things only get louder from there, with tracks like the fuzzy, complaint laden “The Whole World” and the brutal rocker about killing before being killed, “Brass Knuckle Keychain.” The washed out arrangements on “Cherry” and twinkling piano on “Schlub” carry the heavy emotional weight of the record; traversing the hoops we jump through and the traps we fall for in love and lust. Mandeville’s intense vibrato sharpens the impact every time, with a poignancy evocative of Adrianne Lenker and Sharon van Etten. Little Hag wear their many flaws with pride, dressing up their baggage and taking it out for a night on the town.

Signed by Bar/None Records just before everything shut down, Little Hag emerged in 2020 with “Tetris,” a two minute slice of pure pop pugnaciousness with a bummer end of summer vibe, followed by a compilation LP of older Mandeville tracks titled Whatever Happened To Avery Jane? The album chronicles Mandeville’s many pleasures and pains, from making a game out of the “walk of shame,” calling out abusive men, social media stalking, reckless driving, and the like.

She’s a confrontational frontwoman with a penchant for brutal honesty, profanity, and the taboo, and a voice that has been compared to Roy Orbison, Angel Olsen, silk taffeta, and a car backing out of a gravel driveway. After Little Hag shows, many old dudes have said "What is she so angry about?" because they weren’t listening. Little Hag made Makin Waves' Dirty Dozen for 2021 and was interviewed by Bob Makin in November 2021.
