Hackensack High School's Drama Club presents "Sweet Charity"


(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- Hackensack High School's Drama Club will stage its spring musical, Sweet Charity, from March 18-20 at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center (HACPAC). The musical features music by Cy Coleman, book by Neil Simon, and lyrics by Dorothy Fields.  It follows the romantic trials and tribulations of Charity Hope Valentine, "a girl who wanted to be loved."
Azuka Theatre presents the World Premiere of "Carroll County Fix "


(PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Azuka Theatre presents the World Premiere of Carroll County Fix By Val Dunn, directed by Priyanka Shetty. The show runs now through March 20, 2022, at the Proscenium Theatre at The Drake (302 S. Hicks Street). Azuka continues its continued dedication to supporting local artists and raising up Philadelphia voices. Dunn is part of the Azuka New Pages Writer's Group and the show features a who's who of experienced and emerging local artists. For this production,  amid a chorus of croaking frogs, rattling pill bottles, wry humor and heartfelt humanity, Carroll County Fix pushes past small-town clichés to explore the deep currents of change wracking rural communities.

“I’ve been keeping busy, interestingly enough, as things were closing down, my partners at SceneFour Art Collective had made a connection with Christian O’Mahony the owner of the Wentworth Gallery chain and they commissioned me to do a whole bunch of paintings. I did 11 guitars and over one hundred canvases and I’m working on another 30 that I have to finish in about a week-and-a-half before I head back to L.A. to do another music video. So, that’s been really great that I’ve had these two ultra-creative things that I can immerse myself into while I’ve been going stir crazy and not traveling the world with my guitar strapped on.”

Four Entrepreneurs Selected to Appear in Documentary About Hackensack Immigrant Business Owners

Souls Shot Portrait Project on exhibit at Monmouth University


(WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Gun violence is rampant in the United States. While there are calls for legislation to stop tragedies from gun violence, it is not enough. In 2019, almost 40,000 people lost their lives to gun violence and those numbers are rising each year. To memorialize victims lost so soon, Monmouth University Center for the Arts is partnering with Souls Shot Portrait Project to present Portraits of Victims of Gun Violence on view in the Pollak Gallery now through April 13th.
