The Summit Playhouse presents "Bright Star" by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell


(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Playhouse presents Bright Star by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell from April 29th through May 15th. This buoyant musical tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the 1920s and 40s. With a fresh and lively score, this charming fable of lives torn apart and made whole again is sure to appeal to all ages.
South Camden Theatre Company Returns with the Regional Premiere of "Terminus" by Gabriel Jason Dean


(CAMDEN, NJ) -- South Camden Theatre Company returns in April with the regional premiere of Terminus by Gabriel Jason Dean. The play will be directed by Connie Norwood. She is excited to be "back home" taking the reins of what the New York Times says is, "A tale of Southern Gothic horror where fantasy and reality, past and present, freely intermingle." Terminus opens April 22 and runs through May 8, 2022. 
Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center presents Stages: A Short Play Festival


(PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- Need a laugh, a bit of drama, some food for thought? Then shake off the winter blues at Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center’s Stages: A Short Play Festival on April 1 to 3, 2022 at duCret School of the Arts in Plainfield. Dragonfly, a nonprofit community theater, is presenting world and US premiere one-act plays this spring. The playwrights are from as far away as Gibraltar and as close as Metuchen, and the plays all examine stages of life or stages of performing.

Spotlight on Stonebrother


Stonebrother is a hard rock band based out of Nova Scotia, Canada. Their Bandcamp page says the band combines the raw energy of 70s punk rock with the shredding solos and thundering bass of Van Halen and Metallica and has influences ranging from heavy metal, to grunge to pop.
Midtown Returns with First Shows Since 2014


(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Nearly ten years since their last show and twenty since the release of their final album, legendary punk act Midtown is back. The band will return this September/October to perform on select dates with My Chemical Romance, including a show in their home state of New Jersey. The band has also announced that they will be playing a special headline show at Sayreville’s Starland Ballroom this December.

Dina Laura's "Pillow Talk" to Debut at Garden State Film Festival


(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Ever awaken to something going bump in the night? Check out Pillow Talk, a short comedic film written by Dina Laura, which makes its worldwide debut as part of the 20th annual Garden State Film Festival at Asbury Hall in the Asbury Hotel, 210 Fifth Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ on Saturday, March 26th at 2:30pm. 
Racial Justice Video Project Calls High School Students to Submit Their Art for "A Gallery of Stories of Your Racial Discovery"


(BERGEN COUNTY, NJ) -- The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County's Racial Justice Liberty Project has announced a call for high school students to submit a one to two minute video about the theme "A Gallery of Stories of Your Racial Discovery".  Students are invited to share their personal reflections about how they came to understand their own racial, ethnic, or cultural identity and how it currently affects them.  The finished piece will reflect a range of perspectives on this topic in various art forms.

New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble to Perform Paul Taylor's "Cloven Kingdom"


(SUMMIT, NJ) -- New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble’s spring performance of ¡BALLI di PRIMAVERA! The Dances of the Spring returns for its 53rd Anniversary Season April 30th & May 1st at NJDTE Studios. One of the pieces to be performed by the acclaimed pre-professional company includes the iconic Paul Taylor work “Cloven Kingdom” staged by former Paul Taylor dancer Michelle Fleet.

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey to Host Annual Spring Gala on April 30


(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) will return to Canoe Brook Country Club to hold its annual spring gala, Art & Soul, on Saturday, April 30. The event, which will take place in Summit, NJ, is the Art Center’s largest fundraiser of the year, featuring live music by Gatsby Now, cocktails, and a seated dinner. The main attraction of the evening is the Art Center’s signature silent and live auctions of contemporary art highlighted by the return of celebrity auctioneer CK Swett. This year will mark the return to an in-person celebration for the first time since 2019.
"I See Art as a Means of Connection" -- An Interview with Visual Artist Armisey Smith


Armisey Smith uses diverse materials to honor women of color and critique aspects of systemic oppression. On view until April 1, 2022 at Gallery Aferro, her solo exhibition “In Time and In Tide" presents powerful reflections on the causal relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and systemic racism via oil stick drawings, masks made of tulle, zippers, and glitter, as well as her Side Eye/Pink Eye series of acrylic portraits, which depict women of color giving the side-eye, with hot, pink blood in their eyes.
The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council presents "Black & White & Monochrome"


(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council presents “Black & White & Monochrome”  on dispay in their main gallery March 12 - April 16, 2022.   From an open call process, two jurors have selected 40 photographs from 29 artists that express the exhibition theme in unique and compelling ways.

Music for Autism Virtual Performances Set the Tone for Ocean County Library’s 2022 Autism Resources Fair


(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County Library 2022 Autism Resources Fair is privileged to present two virtual performances by Music for Autism. The Fair’s inaugural program will be a concert by versatile performer Stephane Duret, of the Tony Award-winning Kinky Boots on Saturday, April 2 at 2:00pm. Violinist Ariel Horowitz and Friends will perform a virtual concert on Saturday, April 23 at 2:00pm.

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The newly renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig's Adventure on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 1:00pm and 5:00pm. In this new adventure, Peppa Pig, her little brother George, and school friends, Pedro Pony, Susie Sheep, and Gerald Giraffe take on a new adventure. Audiences will be able to join these fun animal friends on an exciting camping trip through the woods. This 60-minute live musical experience is full of singing, dancing, games, and surprises.
