(SUMMIT, NJ) -- 8 Doors, 4 Crooks, 2 Cops.Go! Its the perfect setup for a laugh-filled evening at the theatre when Stony Hill Players presents Unnecessary Farce across two weekends (March 26-27 and April 1-3) at The Oakes Center in Summit, NJ.

An embezzling mayor, his female accountant who cant stay dressed, two undercover cops, nefarious hit men, and of course, a video camera. In this side-splitting escapade, playwright Paul Slade Smith has reinvented the in-one-door innuendo, and out-the-door comic shtick. Stony Hill Players exceptional cast will leave you howling with laughter.

Performances take place March 26th, April 1-2 at 7:30pm and 2:00pm matinees on Sunday March 27 and April 3. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the door. The Oakes Center is located at 120 Morris Ave in Summit, New Jersey.

Stony Hill Players was founded in 1946 by a small group of theater enthusiasts in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey who gathered in homes to read plays and poetry, as well as to share their theatrical experiences and aspirations.   In 1951 a group made up of young performers was formed and named The Pebble Players.  Stony Hill Players has been staging operas, dramatic plays and musical events ever since.

Since its inception, the group has performed in a number of venues in Warren, Berkley Heights, New Providence, Summit and Short Hills, before coming to their current home in the Oakes Memorial Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, New Jersey, a 180-seat, handicapped accessible theater with close proximity to interstate highways, trains and buses, therefore allowing them to draw from the wider metropolitan New York City and northern New Jersey areas. Their mission is to produce a wide selection of high quality staged productions, including musicals and operas, by calling on the areas top performance talent; to promote and foster interest in all aspects of community theater in the area, including music and children's theater; to offer a learning opportunity to amateur and youth actors, singers, and production staff in the community; and to reach as broad and diverse an audience as possible. Their funding comes almost exclusively from ticket sales and donations from the community.  To lend your support to Stony Hill Players, please consider a donation to quality Community Theater.
