(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Nimbus Dance brings Raucous Caucus Tango, a revolutionary new dance-theater work, to the Nimbus Arts Center on March 11-12 at 8:00pm each night. Raucous Caucus Tango imagines a madcap election – at once satirical, comedic, and tragic – whose intricate story evokes a poignant response to politics during this tumultuous moment in our nation’s history.
Raucous Caucus Tango is Artistic Director Samuel Pott’s latest choreographic creation, forged with a notable team of artistic collaborators including 2-time GRAMMY award-winning composer Pedro Giraudo, playwright and New Jersey arts leader Alysia Souder, and Jersey City Poet Laureate-Emeritus and actor, Rashad Wright.
The team, along with the 9 dancers of Nimbus Dance, weaves a beautifully crafted script, exquisitely rendered dance, and passionate tango music – into a poignant treatise on the state of politics during this tumultuous moment in our nation’s history.
Raucous Caucus Tango tells the story of an imaginary election, subversively zinging political parties (of all stripes) and revealing the tragic conflict between hope and pragmatism, idealism and realpolitik.
