(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents four performances of the Tony® Award-winning masterpiece featuring the music of George and Ira Gershwin, An American in Paris on Friday, February 25 at 8:00pm; Saturday, February 26 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm; and Sunday, February 27 at 2:00pm. The winner of four Tony® Awards, this exquisite production features classic Gershwin songs including “I Got Rhythm,” “Liza,” “'S Wonderful,” “But Not for Me,” and “Stairway to Paradise.”
Inspired by the Academy Award®-winning film, An American in Paris transports the audience to post-war Paris, where romance is in the air and youthful optimism reigns. In this poignant production, Gershwin’s soaring melodies are matched by gravity-defying dance as the world rediscovers the power of love. Hoping to start a new life, World War II veteran Jerry Mulligan chooses newly liberated Paris to try and make his mark as a painter. Jerry's life becomes complicated when he meets the mysterious Lise, a young Parisian ballet dancer with a haunting secret who, like Jerry, is yearning for a new beginning.
The national tour of An American in Paris will star Branson Bice as Jerry Mulligan, Camila Rodrigues as Lise Dassin, TJ Lamando as Adam Hochberg, Peter Romberg as Henri Baurel, Kate Gulotta as Milo Davenport, Alexa Poller as Madame Baurel, and Chris Carsten as Monsieur Baurel. Rounding out the cast are Joshua Beaver, Cory Betts, Victoria Bost, Kyle Brace, Samuel Colina, Maureen Duke, Blair Ely, Ed Gotthelf, Nicole Rae Jones, John Katz, Darren McArthur, Ellen Mihalick, Phallyn Navarro, Kaitlin Niewoehner, Guy Noland, Yuka Notsuka, Libby Riddick, Paige Sabo, Michael Tomlinson, and Eduardo Uribe.
Big League Productions, Inc.’s dazzling all-new production of An American in Paris is directed by Jeffrey B. Moss and features breathtaking new choreography by Bob Richard. Set design is by Randel Wright with video design by Jon Infante. Lighting is by Kirk Bookman, costumes by Keith Nielsen, and casting by Alison Franck.

After major renovations, State Theatre New Jersey has reopened and celebrated its 100th Anniversary in December 2021 in a fully renovated theater including newly renovated lobbies, all new restrooms, upgraded HVAC systems, a new elevator for access to all levels, and brand-new theater seats. Originally built as a silent film and vaudeville palace, State Theatre’s historic significance was honored by PBS by featuring it in its documentary series, Treasures of New Jersey, in the fall of 2018. “Treasures of New Jersey: State Theatre New Jersey” can be streamed online.
Today, State Theatre is the largest performing arts center in Central New Jersey and has welcomed more than six million people through its doors since reopening as a non-profit performing arts center in 1988. State Theatre New Jersey is a cornerstone of the cultural vitality of Middlesex County and averages a total economic impact on New Brunswick and the surrounding area of more than $18 million a year. The mainstage programs have featured high-caliber artists such as Diana Ross, Tony Bennett, Kevin Hart, Ringo Starr, Melissa Etheridge, John Leguizamo, Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall, and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
