Our Favorite Stories In Theatre: "Too Heavy For My Pocket" - a play about the civil rights movement

New Jersey Stage published its 25,000th story in December 2021. As the site approached the milestone, we posed the question on social media as how we should celebrate.  One response was to highlight our favorite stories from over the years.  We liked this idea, but could not narrow things down to just 25 favorites so we will present a favorite each day from different genres.  Every Tuesday we feature one of our favorite stories in theatre. This week's choice is a feature on "Too Heavy For My Pocket" - a play about the civil rights movement at George Street.

(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- 3 Egg Creams - A Rhapsody in the Rain, a show inspired by and featuring the timeless music of Lou Christie, is coming to Playhouse 22 in East Brunswick for performances on Saturday, February 12th at 8:00pm and Sunday, February 13th at 3:00pm. The show stars Vince Bandille and is directed by George Cameron Grant (who also wrote the show). It's a story about first love, second chances, and the courage to take them.
The Summit Playhouse presents "Death by Design"

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- What could be funnier than homicide?! How about the same murder committed by several different people with various weapons and wildly dissimilar motives. A spoiled actress, a narcissistic playwright, a loopy bohemian, and a raving anarchist are only a few of the possible suspects in this hilarious murder mystery/comedy. Join us to sort all this out with a lot of twists, turn, and laughs!
