
(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- APEX Ensemble, formerly The Montclair Orchestra, kicks off 2022 on Friday, January 14 with a program reflecting the different aspects of love through music. Music Director David Chan will lead the ensemble, which will be welcoming New York Philharmonic concertmaster Frank Huang for the first time in the concertmaster role. Additional members of the Philharmonic, along with musicians from Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, will be performing alongside Fellows from The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Montclair State University, Yale University and Mannes School of Music. The performance starts at 8:00pm.
The program, entitled Immortal Beloved, will feature three different works paired with lines of poetry and prose, including the famous ‘Immortal Beloved’ letter written by Ludwig van Beethoven to his anonymous love, to be read by Luna Stage director Ari Laura Kreith. The music will consist of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Fair Melusina” Overture, Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8.
Due to Covid restrictions, seating capacity will be limited for this performance. For those unable to attend in person, a live-stream option will be available.

Prior to the pandemic, APEX Ensemble (The Montclair Orchestra) was recognized in New York Classical Review’s “Top Performances of 2019”, embedding the impact of the organization beyond Montclair, NJ, into the surrounding towns and competitive artistic climate of New York City.
