County College of Morris presents "In The Heights"

(RANDOLPH, NJ) -- The Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts and Music Technologies at County College of Morris (CCM) presents this fall's musical "In The Heights" from November 6-9, 2024. The play is set in the lively Latino neighborhood of Washington Heights, Manhattan—where sweet coffee flows from corner bodegas, windows are always open and the air resonates with the rhythm of three generations of music.

Montclair State University's Camryn Dewar: Fulbright Student Award Winner and Rising Indigenous Opera Talent

Fulbright Canada has awarded Camryn Dewar one of 14 outstanding Canadian students selected for the prestigious and highly competitive 2024-2025 Fulbright Canada Student Award. Camryn Dewar, a trailblazing Indigenous (Métis) soprano from Stony Mountain, Manitoba (Treaty One territory) is gaining international recognition not only for her talent, but also for her dedication to cultural advocacy, amplifying the voices of Indigenous women in opera and creating a lasting impact on the global stage. A graduate of the University of Manitoba's Bachelor of Music program (Vocal Performance with Distinction), Dewar will complete her Master of Music in Opera Performance at Montclair State University under Metropolitan Opera’s Barbara Dever next May.

Playwright Wants to Challenge and Delight Audiences with 'Freezing Antarctica' at SPQR Stage Company

(SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- SPQR Stage Company, the Jersey Shore's "Original" theater company, will produce Freezing Antarctica, written and directed by SPQR's Artistic Director Bill Sterritt, November 15-16, and November 22-23, 2024 at Studio;Space in Somers Point. The plot revolves around Russian meteorologist Nikita Alexandra Romanov, who is on a desperate dash to the South Pole to save the world when she meets an American adventurer Jack Kennedy Armstrong Earhart on the way.

Grunin Center presents Tracy Nelson with Steve Conn

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Grunin Center for the Arts presents Tracy Nelson on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 7:00pm. For this intimate acoustic performance, Tracy will be accompanied by Steve Conn, one of the two pianists on the recent Grammy-nominated album "Life Don't Miss Nobody." Conn will also bring his small accordion to accompany Tracy when she switches to a 12-string acoustic guitar.

(LINCROFT, NJ) -- Brookdale Public Radio 90.5 The Night will participate in the fifth annual Public Radio Music Day on October 23, 2024. The day brings together noncommercial public radio stations, artists, and fans to recognize public radio's essential community service and unique role in the music industry locally and nationally. 90.5 The Night will honor the occasion online and on-air by celebrating the music from New Jersey communities all day long.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- A new exhibit at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University will celebrate two southern New Jersey tribal communities through the display of historical documents, traditional artifacts and contemporary art. "Still Here: The Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape and Powhatan-Renape Nations of Southern New Jersey" opens October 9 and runs until January 5, 2025.
