Recent collaborators Helado Negro (Roberto Lange), This Is the Kit (Kate Stables), and Becca Stevens add to Sō Percussion's string of successful vocal partnerships which have included Dawn Upshaw, Shara Nova, Shodekeh Talifero, and their GRAMMY Award-winning album with Caroline Shaw. Helado Negro and Kate joined Sō Percussion in 2025 to create an evening-length program of all new songs for Sō's two-week sold-out residency at The Brooklyn Academy of Music. Both songwriters organically co-created music with Sō that is filled with infectious jams and touching songs. Helado Negro’s latin-influenced electronic sounds and Kate Stables’ sophisticated English/Irish alt-folk charm fuse seamlessly with Sō Percussion’s percussive post-minimalism. Becca Stevens adds her signature 2x GRAMMY-nominated blend of folk, jazz, indie, and classical to this lineup.

Purpose, the gripping and hilarious new drama from two-time Tony Award-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, is “a thumping, riveting, guns-blazing, major new American play” (NY Daily News) that is “unstoppably fierce, funny, and ruthless!” (The New York Post).

This performance is part of Wynton Marsalis’ final season as Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center and Music Director of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and his final tour in those roles.
